What I Wore: Day to Date

It has been quite a week.

Starting with my weekend away, then the Election, a heavy work load, new hair and a fun work event I have been going non stop. I realized today after really examining my day planner that this week was the kick off to an extremely jam packed Holiday Season. This weekend I have a couple of fun things planned, but for the most part will be mellow. I have to mentally prepare for the madness that will be my life for the next six weeks.

Holiday Season always starts out with my middle sister's birthday. She is the big 2-8 today. I am so thankful that she has taught me so much the last couple of years. Yes, she is younger but her life experience has been so opposite of mine and I have learned a lot.

Since I have been on the go I have had to dress for many occasions. This outfit is something that takes me from the office or meetings, a coffee meet up, running errands and then a dinner date. The pieces are all simple but look polished when paired together. You can never go wrong with dark denim and a chambray piece.

I am writing this after watching our President be announced, followed by spending a little time on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I am more emotional than I thought I would be, probably because I am older and wiser. Watching the coverage and seeing the vast thoughts is a little overwhelming. I LOVE the opinions that line up with AND differ from my own, I respect the decision that America made even if I am disappointed and I put my trust in the Lord knowing that this is a part of his plan. I am happy to play a part in using my voice and voting.

Onto more superficial news... I am somewhat blonde again! I was SUPER blonde for about 89% of my life and after utilizing the Ombre trend to grow out my natural hair color for the last two years I was ready for a change! I will never be platinum again but this subtle, more natural blonde I can handle. Let me know what you think!

You have seen my Instagram posts and blog posts about this Leopard Print Shift from Target. It is seriously my favorite. I wore it to the Dancing with the Stars taping a few weeks ago and wasn't able to take pictures. I recreated the look because I wanted to make sure that I shared the outfit with you all. Since the print is super dramatic I kept it simple with nude pumps and a statement necklace. I am going to be rocking this dress all Fall/Winter long. You all need it. Yes, need. In your wardrobe.

What I Wore: Photo Shoot Outfit #3

I am so excited to share my third outfit and final photo shoot pictures with you. This outfit is probably the most "me" and it is what I felt the most comfortable in. I am a high heel wearing, cozy sweater, skirt and scarf kind of a girl. If it is really cold I will wear jeans :) I loved the neutral colors and that none of the shades were an exact match. I am NOT a matchy matchy girl at all. It has never felt like me. I knew the second that I saw the pin on Pinterest and then put the outfit on that it would be a choice. A LOT of you liked it too!

How do I love shoes?

Let me count the pairs...

If you have been a follower of the blog for awhile you will know that I love shoes. I am always looking for new pairs and you can often find my latest lust worthy pair in my What I Want Wednesday posts. After my Shoemint review and a few pics of my closet on Twitter I had quite a few of you comment that you wanted to see more of my shoes. Well, my friends, I am going to show you! This will be a post every week or two. I would love to hear from you what you would like to know about the shoes or designer. All shoes are NOT made equally so ask away!

 

Of all the designer shoes that I own, the brand I have the most pairs of is YSL. I swear these shoes were made for my feet and I fall in love with a new style every season. In. LOVE. This pair is one of my most comfortable. Cognac is such a staple color in my shoe wardrobe and I love the richness of color in these shoes. This pair is a mix of leather and suede which makes them a little different than the other pairs in my closet. I also really fancy the intricate design that covers the toes. It is pretty and interesting.

YSL 'Tribute Mary Jane's'

Fit: 
YSL runs true to size. This pair is a size 39 (US 8 1/2-9) and fits perfectly. I have found that their close toe pumps tend to be on the smaller side. But I think that is because of my wider foot. Majority of YSL heels are between 4-6 inches tall. These shoes are not for those afraid of wearing HIGH heels.

Wear: 
These shoes are tough and can take a beating. I have worn them all day at work, out on the town and out to dinner. The platform in front gives a little more stability when walking and helps balance out the HIGH heel.

Comfortability:
This pair of shoes was so comfortable from day ONE! I did not have to break these in and I was able to wear them for 8 hours straight. I am a HUGE fan of suede shoes because they tend to give a little and mold to your foot. I am sure that is why they were a little more comfortable from the beginning.

DISCLAIMER: I feel more comfortable in HIGH heels. I worked in Retail for 8 years. YES, I wore HIGH shoes every day so I am used to being in them!

What I Wore: Mad for Plaid

Happy Monday!

The weekend goes by so quickly, doesn't it? I hope you all had a nice weekend and that you got to check out all of the Golden Globes fashion! There were some beautiful dresses! I love Awards season...and the Globes are the "kick off". It is nice to have something girly to watch in between the NFL playoffs and the NBA. I had a nice weekend. Spent some time in LA, watched the Patriots/Broncos game and hung out with the BFF watching the Golden Globes. I also worked out five times last week with a LONG cardio work out on Saturday to end the week. It felt good. The worst thing about working out so much is that I have to wash my hair all of the time (when I didn't work out I washed it twice a week) and washing it means I have to actually dry it. Blah! Since I hate actually doing my hair it has ended up in braids, under a hat or in a bun. The styling process is awful and the heat destroys my hair so I am trying to be creative. I am using A LOT more dry shampoo ;)

I wore this outfit out in Hollywood the other night. You can see that I am wearing plaid. Again. Since plaid shirts can be a little more masculine I made sure to add some girly touches. My Carrie Bradshaw bun, a delicate necklace and HIGH heeled sandals did the trick. I am weird about making masculine pieces seem more feminine. I have to point out that this top is very fitted. I think wearing a form fitting plaid top is more "girly" than the longer, looser flannels I am drawn too. I don't normally wear tight fitting tops and I am trying to get used to it. I know that my style will change as different clothes start to fit and look better on me. This outfit was perfect for the bar we went to. I felt cute and appropriately dressed.

Yesterday was a little heavy BUT you all gave me some excellent feedback and I am glad that I could put into words what a lot of bloggers are feeling! Thank you for not being (too) pissed off at me and my opinion ;)

Saturday evening I got to celebrate the 30th birthday of my BEAUTIFUL cousin Jenn! We spent the evening on a Harbor Cruise honoring an amazing woman! I was so happy to be able to share in her special day! I made sure to dress UP for the occassion! I thought the Captain was going to kick me off of the boat when he sw my shoes! Haha. This outfit was chic and I felt good in it all night long!

When I wrote THIS post back in January, I had NO idea how much the YSL wedges were going to retail for. All I know is that I LOVED them and I still do.

Before I share the price (and you all think that I am OUT of my mind) just know that this is the only thing I want this week...or this year. It doesn't make me less crazy. I get that.

In my closet, you would think that I had numerous black work dresses. But I don't. I bought this bubble dress on my last day of shopping before the 30x30 remix. I got it on a random 40% off day at Gap. It was a FANTASTIC deal.

I am a huge fan of pairing cognac brown with black. I love how the accessories pop on the all black ensemble. Belts really help give you curves. I am a huge proponent of adding them to any outfit.

I need help...

I have been studying blogs and how people pose.

It does NOT come naturally to me.

I think that my lack of confidence shows. BIG TIME!

So how do you do it?

Since I am already asking for help, I have another question.

How do I overcome my fear of people thinking that I am weird for taking multiple pics of myself, posing?

I am SO proud of myself for taking on this challenge.

It is helping me accomplish my 2011 goals.

Looky, looky...I got a new camera.

I know it was just a battery that didn't work BUT that stinking battery cost 63 dollars. I got a camera for $100. I consider it a deal BECAUSE my camera was from 2005, when I graduated college.

SO I have an updated Canon Elph. I hopefully will get a new fancy camera in a couple months.

I was pressed for time so I used the pictures from my quick self session without much playing around!

I LOVE that Kendi posted some tips today because this is getting hard. I picked so many basics that it is hard to layer and create interesting outfits. Plain Jane. I am going to dig in and read some of my other fellow re-mixers blogs for inspiration.

Can I get a Woot! Woot?!

You are getting a combined post since I am going to try to catch up on my outfit posts.

Sunday is dedicated to chores (and blogging!) so that I can be equal with the rest of my remixers.

You saw a couple of days ago the F21 shoes that traded for the Miu Miu's. I started a new position the week that the remix started and I am on my feet A LOT more than I was in my previous role. I had to switch out two pairs of shoes that I could not STAND in all day. It was a necessity. You will see the second pair on this post. They were actually a pair that I ordered on my last day of shopping that I knew I would swap the Jessica Simpson 'Dany' for. I needed another pair of flats to make it through my workday. So that is why you will see "more" shoes than allotted.

Speaking of shoes. I miss mine. I really, really do.

That was my pity party, now onto the outfits.

I was manager in charge of the store and I like to look very professional when taking on that task.

People always focus on my age and how young I look (their words, not mine) so I do what I can to prove my professionalism.

Notice that I wore my hair straight! I have to point it out because I hardly ever do! I am just trying out different looks with my new glasses (that I love).
