What I Wore: Dressy Shorts

I am a pin-a-holic. I have talked about it before and I think that most of you are as well. If you aren't, you should be. Ha! While for the most part I have an intense L-O-V-E for Pinterest, it does have some downfalls in my eyes. More on that next week. BUT when I pinned these shorts a year ago I didn't think that I would actually end up buying them. But I did. After seeing them on Heather and Amber via Instagram, my happy butt headed to my local TJ Maxx (still not a fan btw). I found them, they fit, they were in a beautiful color and they were cheap. All wins in my book.

I wore this outfit to my friend's 30th Birthday party. It was perfect for the weather, I went from wine and apps to outdoor patio and dancing in a "club". Since the shorts are fancier I dressed them down with a basic tank and denim jacket. Added leopard wedges for some texture and contrast. Simple jewelry and over-sized sunnies completed the look.

Happy Monday!

I cannot believe I am going to say this but I am glad that it is back to being a "normal" week. After Tahoe, Christmas and New Years my days and weeks have had me so confused! 

I have had a lot of time to really think the past few weeks and I have a lot running through my mind. All good things of course! The only thing that I will mention is that I find it interesting how "perception is reality" so often in life. Especially here in blog land! I may share a lot over the internet, open my heart, give you a peak into my daily life BUT I do keep a lot of things to myself and I most definitely cherish my personal relationships. I try to keep family, friends and the people I date OFF the blog until given permission from them, and even then I am wary. So just remember that everything you read or see here is only a snippet of what my life is really like. And my current relationship has not made it onto the blog. Pictures can be deceiving ;)

Alright, onto the outfit! I threw this interesting look together for lunch with Nikki last week. I was SO EXCITED to meet up with another blogger that I have connected with through our blogs. We had a great lunch and I look forward to hanging out again soon! I have been so blessed by the people that I have met through blogging that it makes everything worth it! This sweater is one of my favorites even though it is almost TOO over sized to wear anymore. When I got dressed in my somewhat dark room, the stripes in the sweater looked more gray and I thought that pairing it with my gray jeans would be a perfect complement. Seeing the look in the light, I am not so sure. Haha. I threw on my burgundy heels because I liked the navy, gray combo. It was an easy and comfortable look that is a little interesting. This is proof that your vision doesn't always turn out the way you plan!

What I Wore: Wool Hat and Sandals

It may look like my outfit is confused. I mean who wears a wool hat with sandals? The answer would be me. And as silly as it sounds I actually really liked this look. I bought these shoes back in November after it started getting to be too "cold" to wear sandals and quite honestly I have been dying to wear them. So as it has warmed up here I knew it was time to bust them out. I have been wanting to pair a pair of leopard shoes with a striped sweater for awhile. The hat comes in because I had to throw something on to cover my work out hair. I am telling you I hate doing my hair! The camel color really was a great complement to the lighter colors I was wearing and brought out the camel in my sandals. I have to talk about my BF jeans. I am obsessed (and have been for two years). I think that wearing looser jeans is the best invention ever! I am definitely going to do a dressier look with them soon.

Do you ever just want to be incognito?

To just fly under the radar and pass quietly through the night?

I do.

Instead of hiding or sleeping the craziness away I am seeking God.

I know that he is giving me the strength to deal with my life at the moment.

He is pushing me, encouraging me to seek him instead of others.

I am enjoying my solitude because it means that I am talking to him (sometimes yelling, but he can take it). I am thankful for this stretching and growth period. I know that there is beauty in the pain.

While I have been seeking my heavenly father, my human father has also been there by my side. He has pretty much spent the last week with me, helping me out, talking with me, loving me. Today is his 60th birthday. (I just typed two sentences and my eyes are already welling up with tears). I cannot tell you all how much I love and appreciate him. He has literally been working his ASS off to take care of the remodel at my place and to be there emotionally for me the past few weeks. He is the hardest working man I have ever met. He gives and gives. Plus he loves unconditionally. I am SO lucky to have him, I know that many of you cannot write the things that I am (and that breaks my heart), and I thank the lord daily for him AND my mom. 

DAD... Happy Happy Birthday! You deserve to be spoiled on your day. I wish you the most amazing and blessed year ever. I hope you ALWAYS know how much we love you! Forever my hero, LOVE you with all my heart! Xxoo

I love the boho chic look. The style of Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens and Laura from On the Racks inspire me so much! They wear some incredible pieces that I cannot even dream of pulling off. But they are challenging me to try new things therefore building up my courage to just go for it.

I have never worn a head to toe trend but I decided to try it. I like the way it turned out (I hate the pictures though. Can't win them all). I wanted to wear my moccasins because they are good fro traveling and I knew that I would be on a plane. I tend to base many of my outfits around my shoes. My favorite cut offs were the next piece that I wanted to wear. I picked out my jewelry next...one feather earring from my friend Jess that she gave me for my birthday and one wood bangle to play up my moccasins. Channeling my love for Nicole I had two Winter Kate pieces picked out, but the both had sleeves, I knew I would be too hot. I decided to pull out my crochet halter/tank that I last wore at the Britney concert and knew that my look was complete. The cherry on top was a side braid in my hair...hippie from head to toe ;). I felt like I mastered the Boho look. What do you think??

What I Wore: Britney Spears concert

Hi Friends!

I sure missed you the past few days! I have been working on a project that has consumed me. I look forward to sharing it with you all SOON!

On Monday night I got to see my girl, Britney, in all of her glory! YOU guys! She danced (FULL out, like old times), looked like she was having SO much fun, was super interactive with the crowd, looked amazing AND I think that she actually sang (I mean NO lip syncing) on a couple of the songs. It was a great show, Lauren and I danced and sang the whole time, and we even saw the Hilton sisters. I WISH it had been Nicole Richie or even Kim K. but I am happy with my celeb sighting. I'll try and get some pics up of the concert over the weekend.

As for my outfit, while I didn't wear sparkles, I went with with casual comfort. When I saw this Free People top on Caitlin's blog I bought it immediately. I knew it was perfect for the concert. I paired it with a neon yellow bandeau top and legging jeans. I loved my jewelry and how my hair turned it. It was perfect for dancing and the heat!

Recent purchases

I haven't really gone anywhere lately to wear a fun, cute outfit that I could photograph. I also haven't been feeling that creative. I wanted to make sure and get a post in for the day so I thought I would show you some recent purchases. I have NO business buying things without having a job. But I couldn't help myself. Hopefully I have a reason to wear some of these things soon.

I picked up these pretty pink sandals from H&M. I am dying to wear then ASAP. I saw them on the H&M app (did you know they have an App for the iPhone/iPad?) a few weeks ago and favorited them. I'm so glad they had them in my size. I'm loving anything with Fringe. Anything.

I IMMEDIATELY bought this fun Free People top after seeing it on Caitlin of Candyfloss and Persie. She ROCKED the heck out of the shirt and I am hoping to look half as good as she does in it!

I had this blazer purchased months ago but I was put on a waiting list. It finally came. It is K-Dash and is the same print as the dress I wore here. I have been DYING for a subtle leopard print blazer since I saw Kim wearing THIS last year.

Last but not least I found these incredible shorts at Target (I bought them in black also). So comfy yet look so sophisticated on. I have so many outfits planned for these baby's.

Two hundred EIGHTY six: Free People Sweater

I am not a Free People fan.

I have a hard time spending money on pieces that I can find for waaayyyyy cheaper and looks pretty similar.

I feel like they don't really have an identity as a label and tend to do a little bit of everything decently instead of focusing on doing something GREAT!

With that said I fell in LOVE with this sweater that Ashlee Simpson in wearing. And much to my surprise it is by Free People. And I think I have to have it.

Although Ashlee is SUPER SKINNY and I don't think it looks good.

But I love the J Brand coated leggings and YSL Trib Too pumps.
