What I Wore: Kind of Girly

Happy Tuesday!

I am still trying to recover from a very busy weekend. 

I swear that everything always happens all at once, at least in my life!

 I have a pretty busy week ahead of me, too!

This look is more on the girly side for me. I am not one who gravitates to ruffles, at all. I am also not huge on florals or lots of lace. I favor more simple looks and fabrication, straight lines and shaping that contours. I normally wouldn't buy a top like this because it adds bulk to my mid section. But paired with skinny jeans and sandals keeps the rest of the look simple and shows off my shape. What do you think???

Happy Monday!

I can say that since I am typing by the fire, watching the snow fall knowing that I don't have to go to work tomorrow. Sorry to brag ;)

But this is only the second White "Christmas" that I will have had in my 30 years. I will actually be home in So Cal, celebrating Christmas Eve and Day with OUT my family for the first time ever! So my Holiday is not normal but I am really excited for the changes. Let's just say I will be cooking my first Holiday meals. Scary! 

I spent Saturday doing my last minute Christmas Shopping, cleaning my house, actually decorating my house with updated pictures and frames and packing. It was crazy busy. This is what I threw on to run my errands. I know that it is shocking that I am wearing a flannel. Haha. Worn with my go to Rockstar skinnies and Cognac boots. This outfit isn't very creative or anything you haven't seen on the blog before. Adding the beanie was purely to cover my dirty hair, not to make the outfit cute or different. :p

Through My iPhone Lens

It has been awhile since I have shared some of the pics that I have taken while out and about that didn't make it to Instagram. I love having my photos on my phone but I was thinking the other day how sad it is that I will never have that feeling of getting my film developed and seeing the memories that were captured. I hardly ever get pics developed from my digital camera or phone. In fact I have a whole house that needs to be decorated and I have plenty of frames to fill. I was showing someone my house and realized that the only pics I have are a couple years old. So I need to get on that.

 L) I was so excited to find the Owl Sweater at Target. I obsessed over THIS LOOK that Kate Bosworth wore last Spring to the Burberry show and I think I can find a way to style it to my taste.

R) This is my casual chic look when the weather cools. Beanie, Henley tee, leggings and flat boots. If I am not wearing something fancier, you will find me in this!

R) I got to put the babe to bed two nights in a row. First night was on Instagram and I looked TIRED, this was the second night. A lot easier. :)

 You guys... I am O-B-E-S-E-S-S-E-D with this CD. Beyond obsessed. I have listened to NOTHING else since I bought it. I relate to every song especially as I have been trying to find love again. I have DVR'd everything that she has been on. I called my sister for an intervention the other night. Yup. I am 30 going on 13. No biggie!

 I think you are all familiar with the main man in my life. My nephew!!!!

I grow to love him more and more. He really is the most handsome little boy ever! The boy gets his style from me. Haha.

 Lastly... I am ITCHING to dye my hair. I have had it natural for the last year. I am missing being blonde and I think this is a good compromise. I sent this pic to my hair stylist and I am waiting to hear back. I PROBABLY won't change it, but I sure am tempted. What do you think? Should I????????

I pray that you all have a SAFE Halloween. 

I do not partake in the holiday and will be having a catch up dinner with my old college room mate. :)

What I wore: Stripes and Cognac

Some days the easiest thing to throw on is a dress. Sometimes it really amazes me that one article of clothing makes an outfit. I was extremely thankful yesterday morning when I didn't want to even think about what to wear. I was able to get dressed in two minutes flat and look pulled together for work without trying.

I have worn this Stylemint dress a couple of times (last seen here) and I fall a little more in love each time I wear it. It is loose enough to eat and breath, it is thick enough that I don't worry about every bump and lump showing and it is long enough to show some leg while still being work appropriate. I wanted to wear this dress belted and with wedges to give the dress a slightly dressier edge. My new Michael Kors sunnies were the perfect accessory to complete this all American look.

She is one of my biggest supporters and such a GREAT gal. I am so excited to meet her next month. IN the meantime she is hosting a "What's in my Bag" link up today (she also does Mani Monday's). I was in work out gear all day yesterday getting so much done for the blog. I have Monday's post done (hint hint...I may be linking up to Mani Monday), I set up my blog 's new email, along with a new twitter handle, I learned how to create collages in Photoshop (thanks to my boss) and I wrote a guest post for Nikki over at Bedazzles after Dark (you should check her out!). I am grateful to have a reason to post today.

I JUST swapped bags a few days ago so my bag was SUPER clean. Not even a stray receipt was floating around in there. This is what I carry day in and day out!

• Trident Layers: I am a fruity gum girl! This gum's flavor lasts forever
• Keys" House and Car key. I drive a Prius.
• JPK make up bag: FULL of crap that I didn't feel like showing you so that I didn't have to list it all. HAHA.
• Miniature Perfume: Jessica Simpson 'Fancy'. You never know when you will need a refresher!
• Tide Stick: Best Invention EVER!
• Ibuprofen: For body aches and cramps. Working out daily does a number on me. 
• Abas Clutch wallet: an old sample from when I worked in the buying office. It has a sparkle in the fabric and is my favorite :)
• Oliver Peoples glasses: I need glasses for driving and reading
• Dita 'Marseilles' sunnies: I am constantly switching my sunnies out.
• Coach checkbook holder: YES I carry my checkbook. Mostly to pay my trainer. Seriously.
• Aquaphor: The only thing I put on my lips (I also use Rosebud salve). Works as lotion, moisturizer, make up remover and for flyaways. It does everything!
• Pens and Pencils: I only use Sharpie pens and BIC automatic pencils. I honestly use pencils WAY more than pens. I like to be able to correct mistakes. Type A alert!
• iPad: I love having this to read and browse the web when I am out and about.
• iPhone and iPad charger: I am on my phone WAY TOO MUCH. I am ALWAYS needing my charger daily!!

Now you have a glimpse into who I really am.

I worked with Handbags and Small Leather Goods for years! They are my favorite. One thing I learned is how personal they are. Your bag and wallet really showcase your personal style and idiosyncrasies. My bag says that I am trendy while my small leather goods are more on the classic side.

What I Wore: inVESTed

I have been in a maxi kind of mood.

I think I am rebelling against form fitting clothes since I know I should be looking to buy some things in smaller sizes. I am still not comfortable wearing form fitting outfits (plus I still have many more pounds to lose). Why should I be looking for other things when my maxi skirts and dresses are just so darn cute? ;)

I was so excited to find a decently priced denim vest that I bought it in my old size because I know I can have it tailored as I lose weight. It is such a great piece to just throw on and change the look of an outfit. I gravitate towards sleeveless pieces, especially in the Summer, due to the heat and never wanting to wear something that could possibly show sweat. This is a versatile piece that is season less. I have a feeling that it will be on the blog all Summer long. I paired it with a simple white tank and a floral skirt that I bought last year. Paired with a metallic sandal it was an easy peasy look.

Happy Hump Day!!

We are half way through the week...YAY!

I don't know if it is because my birthday is on Monday or that my work/fitness/personal life is insane but this week is flying by. I wanted to write a fabulous post about the Fashion Show I judged (next week...hopefully), I wanted to try and respond to some blog comments (I have 1000+ emails that need attention) and I wanted to visit some of you (isn't happening anytime soon. I am SO SORRY!!) but I only have one goal in mind (my 30x30) and that takes precedence. Don't hate me...I still love you all!!

SO this outfit...

I saw this dress last month on Target Style's Facebook and knew I HAD to have it even though the comments on it were less than pleasant. I am DIGGING the hi/lo (aka MULLET) look and my mint obsession is getting out of control. So this dress was right up my alley. Paired with a black skinny belt and my favorite (right now) wedges I knew this look was perfect for judging my local High School's fashion show. A little secret...I HAD to wear my hair in the bun because I had work out hair. Ewwww....gross, I know! But I only had time for a rinse. Thank the Lord for dry shampoo ;)

It's the weekend!

 Woohoo!

This week flew by. Wow. I have been living in such a whirlwind. Have another busy weekend ahead of me. I hope you all have some exciting plans. The weather is supposed to be INCREDIBLE this weekend. I am hoping to lay out for a couple hours in between working out and going to another concert. At a winery. That should be a very good time ;)

I have to laugh that I am posting my rainy day outfit on such a gorgeous day. I wore this outfit last Friday when it was cold and rainy. I loved the neutral palette with the pop coming form my scarf. Leggings, boots, a flowy tee and scarf is a great outfit to stay warm and still look put together. I always wear my trench when it rains. It is the best investment piece for any wardrobe.

Blogger's Do It Better: RED!

Happy Valentine's Day my lovelies!!

To be honest the day kind of snuck up on me. I just realized that I will be spending my first Valentine's Day alone in six years. I am a sappy romantic and I enjoy this Hallmark Holiday :) I decided to pamper myself. I have an intense work out planned, lunch with one of my besties and a massage booked. I think Valentine's Day will treat me just fine :)

(although having a hot date may have been just a smidge better)

I was excited to see that red was the choice for this month's "Bloggers DO it Better" post. While red isn't a color that I own a lot of (three plaid shirts, one sweater and two scarves is all I own. Kind of shocking and a little sad.) I knew that I could make something work. I tried on the few items I own and settled on one of my flannels. It actually has been chilly (in the high fifties) and I knew pairing the shirt with leggings and heeled boots would be perfect. I LOVE the color combination of red and turquoise so I had to dress up my flannel with a statement necklace and earrings. Since my shirt is over sized (from the men's department) I wanted to belt it. My braided skinny belt is going to get a lot more play these days. I love how the look came together.

What I Wore: Sass it up

I love how one piece can change an outfit for the better.

When I picked up this faux fur stole at H&M a couple of months ago I knew that it would be special enough to dress up my most basic pieces. I love this shirt but it is a bit sheer in real life and I am always weary of light, voluminous tops (I always look 15 pounds heavier, never a good look) and pairing it with the stole draws your eye up. What I didn't realize was that my hair blends right into the stole and it looks like a whole lotta hair going on! I LOVE these shoes but I have a hard time pairing them with a lot of my clothes. I knew they would be a perfect for this look. I love how the turquoise stones just pop. You may recognize the jeans. I wore them here. They are my Old Navy 'Rockstar' jeggings that I cannot get enough of. I am kind of obsessed with this blue color, the color is kind of retro to me. It is a different blue from anything in my closet and that always makes me happy!

I was comfortable yet sassy!
