What I Wore: Honing In

The great thing about blogging your outfits is that it is really easy to hone in on your comfortability and go to style. My look lately has been very casual, pretty basic and tends to incorporate color. I also tend to favor flats more than my heels. This has NEVER happened! Haha. I am also leaning towards any pant that is distressed! I love my rips and tears.

I love the sass of the hot pink in this outfit. Pairing the scarf with the basics pulled the whole look together.

I am still trying to recover from a very busy weekend. 

I swear that everything always happens all at once, at least in my life!

 I have a pretty busy week ahead of me, too!

This look is more on the girly side for me. I am not one who gravitates to ruffles, at all. I am also not huge on florals or lots of lace. I favor more simple looks and fabrication, straight lines and shaping that contours. I normally wouldn't buy a top like this because it adds bulk to my mid section. But paired with skinny jeans and sandals keeps the rest of the look simple and shows off my shape. What do you think???

This week flew by!

I have a busy weekend ahead of me and I am really looking forward to the busy-ness. I am running a 5K tomorrow morning, I have a Bridal Shower for a dear friend and then I am going to the Angels/Dodgers baseball game! WOOHOO it is Baseball season!! Do you all have anything fun planned?

This look is great for transitioning into Spring. I think pairing a maxi skirt with a drapey tank and denim jacket is perfect for the 75 degree weather. I am also loving that I can bust out my sandals. I am covered enough to fight the breeze but still feel comfortable in the sun. My love affair with gray is going strong. I have worn gray pieces the last three days!

What I Wore: One Shirt...Two Ways

I have to admit, being fashionable or stylish ALL of the time is daunting. I am definitely someone who wears the same pieces over and over again. Instead of only taking pictures of the best outfit I decided to show you two ways I wore the same top. I love the ombre top and have had a lot of fun pairing it with color.

The first look is from last Friday. I wore this to my friend's 30th Birthday party at Lucky Strike Bowling Alley. It was cute but still appropriate to bowl in. I still love my red skinnies and think that red ALWAYS looks good with black and gray. The second look is what I wore to work yesterday. Basic dark denim shorts paired with fuschia heels was the perfect complement to the tee. The shoes pulled the whole look together and made a statment.

What I Wore: 50 Shades...

...of Gray.

I didn't realize I was in such a tonal mood. I wore black and gray yesterday in an outfit that you all LOVED! That look sure was popular and I am kind of nervous to be showing you a look in the same color tones. My look yesterday was a little sassier while today's look is definitely more work appropriate. Mini skirts just don't quite work in the office! 

Speaking of 50 shades...How many of you have read the book and/or the trilogy? All I have to say is that I am sad I read them and that I don't have a significant other in my life! You all know why! ;)

This dress is another Target special. I picked this baby up on sale last year for under 15 bucks. I loved the subtle print and that it was a little looser on top. I have so many belts that I can pair with the dress to change up the look. I have been on a neon binge and thought that pink would be an awesome pop for this dress. I busted out the ever popular DC Dolce Vita 'Archer' sandals and my neon skinny belt. To play up the gold hardware on the shoes I wore a gold necklace and rings to tie the look together.

I have been in a maxi kind of mood.

I think I am rebelling against form fitting clothes since I know I should be looking to buy some things in smaller sizes. I am still not comfortable wearing form fitting outfits (plus I still have many more pounds to lose). Why should I be looking for other things when my maxi skirts and dresses are just so darn cute? ;)

I was so excited to find a decently priced denim vest that I bought it in my old size because I know I can have it tailored as I lose weight. It is such a great piece to just throw on and change the look of an outfit. I gravitate towards sleeveless pieces, especially in the Summer, due to the heat and never wanting to wear something that could possibly show sweat. This is a versatile piece that is season less. I have a feeling that it will be on the blog all Summer long. I paired it with a simple white tank and a floral skirt that I bought last year. Paired with a metallic sandal it was an easy peasy look.

My outlook on life has changed.

I am teaching myself to be happier, have more fun, let the stress go and to be the type of person I would want to be around. I have taken many steps to make this happen. It has been quite an undertaking but it has been so worth it. I have strengthened relationships with people that I see in my future and letting go of others that don't understand/get/support who I am and where I am at. I don't talk about my Faith very often on the blog (since I focus on my personal style) but I thought I would share a little today. I started a NINE month Spiritual Growth class. I am so excited and a little bit frightened but I know it is what I need as I continue on my journey of bettering myself. The group consists of eight women, whom I hope to build a strong relationship with. I strive in small group settings so this is perfect for me and my walk with the Lord. I won't talk about it much (if at all) here on the blog. I may touch on it over at my Personal Blog. If you want to know more or talk Faith based please reach out over email or Twitter. 

Since I was meeting a new group of women AND sitting for a couple of hours I wanted to look chic, put together and comfortable. I have wanted to wear these neon sandals since I picked them up a few weeks ago. One of my favorite color combos is leopard and pink (yes, I consider leopard a color) and I had not worn my leopard blouse since Christmas Eve. I knew it would be a perfect match for my denim. I threw on some pink accessories to tie the look together. Sadly...the top is way too big now so it was hard to keep my proportions right in the half tuck. I love how the look came together. Leopard and Pink just scream HAPPY to me.

Spring into Sandals

It is OFFICIALLY Spring....YAY!!

The sun is out longer, everything is turning lush and green and it is starting to really warm up. I love the transition.

You all know that I am a shoe whore. I am always looking for a great, new, funky pair of shoes that will make the outfit. In the Spring and Summer I am a huge sandal fan. While my wedges, heels and platforms always make an appearance there is nothing like a pretty sandal to complete the look.

This year I am working on completing my sandal wardrobe. I was in need (yes need, I have worn out a couple pairs) of a basic black pair, a pair in a bright, fun color and a simple/classy metallic pair. You counted correctly. Three pairs. That may seem a bit excessive but you have to keep in mind that I live where I can wear sandals year round. And I do.

I think that every shoe wardrobe should exist of the following:
Basic Black, Neutral, Pop of Color, Metallic and Animal print.

Taking it a step further...you should own those five colors/shades in the following types of shoes:
Flats, Sandals, Heels, Wedges/Platforms

Which means TWENTY pairs total.
Crazy? A bit much? Too many?
Maybe...but I honestly don't think so.

Back to the sandals. These are my top picks (some are currently sitting in my closet) for the Season{s}.

Basic Black

 Sam Edelman 'Gigi'


This sandal is my go to. I have bought a pair every season for three years. It is simple, chic and goes with everything. The shoe is comfy and easy to wear. 


Pop of Color

Dolce Vita 'Archer'

I have been dying over these since seeing them in the Nordy's catalog in January (Feb?). I love the Jewelry like detail. The gold accents make the shoe look rich. This shoe runs big so size down!


Neutral

Valentino 'Rockstud' Gladiator


These are an investment piece. They are NOT cheap. Valentino makes the most perfect patent nude color. The studs give the shoes a slight edge, trend aspect but will definitely carry on from season to season. Patent leather can last a VERY long time if taken care of. Wearing any nude shoe will elongate your legs. 


Metallic

 DV by Dolce Vita 'Ilana'

Every sandal should have that extra touch. I love the tassels and knotted leather to give the sandals a chicness. Metallic sandals can stand out on their own. They look incredible with dresses and really pop with a tan.

The Flip Flop

Havaiana 'Slim Crystal Mesh'

The flip flops. I know most people have a love/hate relationship with them. I LOVE them. These are my two top choices. The Tkees pair is a more sophisticated look. They come in a variety of colors to match your skin tone. They elongate your legs and are super comfy. Havaiana's are a no brainer. They are the most comfortable, long lasting flip flop out there. They come in a bazillion colors and prints. My favorite is the crystal pair. An update to the basic black. I own about 10 pairs of Havaiana's. I swear by them.

What I Wore: Christmas Shopping

It is December 14th and I am DONE with my Christmas shopping!

It feels so good to have that accomplished so I can focus on the spirit of the Season instead of the material goods that tend to over shadow the real meaning of the Holiday. I have had a tough year. BUT getting to spend the next two weeks with friends and family is a great way to end this year on a high note.

I tend to error on the casual side of dressing when I am running all around town. Nothing is better to wear than a chunky knit sweater and some boots. I bought this sweater recently and I am obsessed. it is so comfy and cozy, the color goes with everything and I could literally throw it on and feel like my outfit is complete.
