What I Wore: Snow Day

I knew that it was going to be cold in Tahoe. But I still wasn't prepared. I am not a huge fan of the cold BUT I was super excited to layer, wear boots and scarves. We have spent most of our days indoors while it has been snowing. I am not used to so much down time. But I am being forced to relax and that isn't a bad thing.

I planned all of my outfits for the trip to have a "Christmasy" feel. Lots of red, green and neutrals. I bought this sweater after seeing it on the @TargetDoesItAgain Instagram a few weeks ago. I bought it two sizes larger than my normal size so that it would be loose and kind of drapy. These jeans have been a go to pair and I am about to buy them in a size smaller since they are getting loose. :) I LOVE these boots and while I have worn them a few times this is the first time that they are making an appearance on the blog. I LOVE wearing fun socks, especially when they peak out a little bit. I used the scarf to tie the whole look together.

I have another Stylemint shirt to show you all.
At the beginning of February I saw this video and knew I HAD to have the top Mary Kate was wearing. Since it wasn't in the February Showroom I figured it would be in March's. I was so sad when I saw my March Showroom on the first and it wasn't available in red. I waited almost two weeks for it to become available and ordered it the second it did. Mary Kate also wore it in Blue here, but I knew that the red and gray were perfect for my wardrobe. While you can see that it doesn't fit me quite like it does MK, I still love it. On me the top is 3/4 length sleeved and I could NEVER wear it as mini dress (as suggested by Stylemint). It is made of French Terry and is cozy. I love the color too.

The top is perfect with my jeggings now while it was a little chillier and will be great with cut offs in the early summer. To dress/sass up the outfit I paired it with my leopard peep toe wedges and a statement necklace.

It has been a long week, my friends!

Yesterday I really felt the time crunch. So much to do and fit in and so little time. I already feel like my fitness and food regimen is a full time job. I have a real job, family and friends, this fancy blog, some pretty cool blog events and birthday parties galore that are pulling me in 100 directions. I know that I am not alone and that we all have busy schedules, so I am not complaining. I know how blessed I am. Sometimes life just gives you a little slap. I got mine yesterday. :)

My post title and outfit coincide. Wearing black and blue made me feel like I was dressed like a bruise all day. AND life hitting me like it did left me feeling bruised. Haha. I am so clever. ANYWAYS...I picked up these shoes from Target (I told you the have UPPED their game) and I was dying to wear them so I planned my outfit around them. I have not worn this Stylemint shirt yet and I knew I wanted to pair them together. I was going to wear all black but it felt too formal. I threw on my grey/black jeggings and liked the contrast. I added my favorite jewelry (all blue accents of course) and really liked how this outfit turned out.

What I Wore: Sparkly Gold

After two uninspiring posts (to me) I knew that I had to step it up. I have been itching to wear these shoes again and planned my entire outfit around them. I honestly plan most of my outfits around my shoes and/or jewelry. I have been told that most people plan their outfits first then accessorize. I am not normal ;)

 I wanted to share a few things before jumping into my outfit. ONE, I am hiking to the Hollywood sign today. I am so excited about it! I have this on my bucket list and cannot believe I am crossing it off. TWO, I cannot wait for you all to read my third Fashionista Fitness post tomorrow. My inspiration has completely been coming from my exercise regime. THREE, Y'all need to head to Target. They have INCREDIBLE shoes right now. I have bought quite a few pairs in the last couple of weeks. Oops! 

Ok, the outfit. I found this gem of a sweater in my closet and realized I had not worn it in over a year. I bought it for my ten year High School reunion. I love the length and that it has sparkly gold paint all over it. Since it was a little dressier I pulled out some jeggings. My House of Harlow necklace is one of my favorites and is the perfect compliment to the sweater. Throwing on my fabulous heels in bronze, snake print and gold completed the look. This is definitely one of my favorite outfits in a long time.

Let's just call this unflattering outfit week here on the blog.

Holy Bananas. I am clearly choosing comfort over looking svelte.

As huge as this sweater makes me look, it sure keeps me warm.

I am a sucker for cardi/wrap/blanket looking sweaters. This one is extremely similar to the one I wore here. Pairing it with my favorite jeggings (that are too big now. YAY. And kind of sad!) and my Minnetonka boots makes me so happy. The guys at work made fun of me for wearing a "poncho". I have to share with you that I work with ALL guys. It is a completely opposite environment from anything I have ever worked in. And I love it. Yes they don't get my clothes, don't care or want to know that I have cramps and completely ignore the fact that I am eating healthy and bring donuts and fudge. But it is perfect for the place that I am at personally. OH and my office is freezing. So I have to bundle up (which just made me realize why I am choosing comfort and cozy clothes).

What I Wore: Blanket Cardi

I love having a reason to wear my Winter clothes. 

It rained yesterday and I ran to my closet to bust out my Hunter's and a large sweater. I am happy to have the 6 or 7 rainy days a year. Any more than that would put me over the edge. 

This is one of my favorite outfits that I have worn in a long time. I loved the colors. I am having a huge love affair with anything Southwestern especially the prints and the colors rust and teal. This sweater is an explosion of color and it makes me happy. I have a HUGE affinity for blanket like sweaters. The more they wrap and drape the more I like them. I have worn my Hunter's a few times but this is the first time I paired them with socks. I was worried that the length of the sweater, the socks and boots would make my legs look stubby but I think the proportions worked out pretty well. I think that my turquoise earrings were the perfect accessory to add a little more pop.

What I Wore: Hot Tamales!

I don't know about you but I L-O-V-E Mexican Food.

Luckily living in So Cal I don't have to look far for some authentic goodness. I have lived outside of CA and nothing compares. Nothing. So when I was invited to help make Christmas Tamales with my friend Lauren and her family I JUMPED at the chance. I mean what could be more fun? Celebrating the holiday, spending time with friends and good food (and plenty to drink) was exactly the kind of activity I needed. I was posting Instagram pics throughout the day and Miss Kristen asked how I managed to look fashionable while cooking. I can tell you that my first thought was to throw on my comfies and that fashion was far from my mind. I wanted to wear red for the Holidays and I knew that pics would be involved because Lauren is a total photog! Then I threw on an awesome floral apron and CHIC would be the one word to describe my outfit. HAHA.

What I Wore: Christmas Shopping

It is December 14th and I am DONE with my Christmas shopping!

It feels so good to have that accomplished so I can focus on the spirit of the Season instead of the material goods that tend to over shadow the real meaning of the Holiday. I have had a tough year. BUT getting to spend the next two weeks with friends and family is a great way to end this year on a high note.

I tend to error on the casual side of dressing when I am running all around town. Nothing is better to wear than a chunky knit sweater and some boots. I bought this sweater recently and I am obsessed. it is so comfy and cozy, the color goes with everything and I could literally throw it on and feel like my outfit is complete.
