Everybody, Everywear: Mixed Prints

I have been SO excited for the Everybody, Everywear post. When I heard that 'mixing prints' was the winner I started jumping up and down. This was a HUGE Spring trend and I have been so inspired by the mixing of florals/leopards and polka dots/leopards done by Dolce and Gabanna. I have been wanting to mix prints since I posted my Spring Wish List. I finally bought a leopard print pencil skirt (although I am still on the look out for the perfect one. I also still need to find a flouncy leopard skirt.). I have to admit that I was slightly discouraged when I looked in my closet and saw how little prints I actually had. I went to a few stores to find a top then realized I needed to make my closet work. I went through a few options, even posting my top three on Twitter. And this was the best choice. I LOVE how it turned out. I even busted out the red lipstick, which I am hoping will grow on me. This challenge definitely stretched me and got me out of my comfort zone. THAT is the reason why I do them :)

What I Wore: Color and HOH 1960

I am up in Nor Cal for a few days joining the BF on a work trip. Something that I would never had gotten to do if I was at my old job. I am enjoying a couple of days of relaxation in a new environment. It is beautiful up here! 

I wore this fun and colorful dress awhile back with a cardigan. I have been itching to bust it out for some Summer weather and thought that this trip was the best time to do so! I think that the accessories really determine whether a dress is casual or dressy. I chose my cork wedges to match the neutral and black belt. The colors helped tone the dressiness down. I wanted a little edgier jewelry pieces to toughen up the sweetness and colors of the dress. My House of Harlow pieces are perfect because they are statement makers and there is nothing dainty about them. Plus, putting on my HOH over sized and exaggerated cat eye sunnies really completed my look. I like how it all came together.

What I Wore: Travelista

With Tuesday's generally dedicated for Travel her on Fashion Lane, I thought that I would share my outfit that I flew to Scottsdale, AZ in.

The maxi dress is quickly becoming my go to for any occasion these days. They are comfy and forgiving plus they make you look like you tried. I also cannot get enough of my coral Grandpa cardigan. In fact both pieces I wore for travel can be seen in this post. I was excited how different I made this outfit look though. I had to wear my Panama hat because it would NOT pack well. It is made of paper and creases so dang easily.

What I Wore: Big Love meets Little House

I have seen many bloggers pair their Chambray button ups with a skirt. The shirt has been open, tucked in and knotted. I think it was Taylor over at Sterling Style that did it best. I knew that I wanted to wear my Chambray shirt with my floral maxi skirt. I liked the overall outfit. It was comfortable, it got me a lot of compliments but I couldn't quite pinpoint who I felt like when I was wearing it.

THEN it hit me. I felt like Chloe Sevigny (the bun and maxi skirt are things she wears a lot) in Big Love with a twist of Little House on the Prairie (the "western" feel of the Chambray and my shoes along with the outfit's color ensemble).

And YES I would wear it again...but with a different belt and shoes.

What I Wore: LBD

In my closet, you would think that I had numerous black work dresses. But I don't. I bought this bubble dress on my last day of shopping before the 30x30 remix. I got it on a random 40% off day at Gap. It was a FANTASTIC deal.

I am a huge fan of pairing cognac brown with black. I love how the accessories pop on the all black ensemble. Belts really help give you curves. I am a huge proponent of adding them to any outfit.
