What I Wore: The Seventies called...

...and they totally want their pants back!

I went out on a limb here. These pants are a little out there but I kind of love them, a lot. The printed pant and the pajama pant is totally in right now. I do think it is a tough look to pull off. And I totally think that I will be able to style these a little better when it gets a little cooler. We shall see.

Since the pants are loud (and they are kind of silky and stretchy making you feel like you are wearing nothing) I went with a basic white tee and some seveties looking platforms. It is basic up top and a total explosion of Seventies sass on the bottom.

I hope that you all had an incredible Holiday!

I had a great couple of days spending time with friends that are JUST like Family. I missed mine immensely but survived my first holiday on my own. It feels nice! Now back to work and real life, until Friday that is!

For a BIG Christmas dinner I knew the only clothes to wear were stretchy leggings, a drapy top and cardigan. This look is forgiving and allowed me to eat! I always like an all black look with a print or pop of color as a topper.

What I Wore: Color and Lace

It has been a very busy week. Heck, it has been a very fun Holiday Season. I LOVE being super busy like this, even if I literally fall into my bed at the end of the day. I have been working hard at work to compensate for being gone next week AND I picked up another campaign for Pollinate. Blessed, busy and blessed. ;)

It was another one of those days that I had to dress for work and for evening activities. No time to head home and change. Luckily I picked up this really cute lace sweatshirt, paired it with my skinny jeans and some platforms. It was the perfect look that was comfortable and kind of chic too! I am a huge fan of the color combo. I really like this purple color with my coloring and it pairs very well with Navy. Cognac shoes were the perfect complement.

Fashion Star

How many of you have been watching Fashion Star?

I know the show opened to many mixed reviews and tonight's episode is the second to last. I was able to actually be at the taping for this episode (it was taped last August) and had such high hopes for the show. I agree with many that there was too much information for an hour episode and that they set up the show horribly. It was hard to follow and they seemed to skip designers and mentor's commentary. I do think that it has gotten a little better as they have eliminated designers. I don't know if the show has gotten the ratings for a second season, but if they do the show again I am hoping the change some things. As for the talent...it is a mixed bag. Many of the designers didn't impress me at all. I am kind of surprised at the attitudes of some of the designers as well. My favorite and the one I am rooting for is, Orly Shani. I love her attitude, the fact that she wears her heart on her sleeve and obviously her designs. My fingers are crossed that she makes it to the finale and doesn't get cut tonight (we weren't able to see the elimination so I don't know).

If someone were to listen to my opinion on how to make the show more marketable, these are the things I would do...

• Set up the show on a format: there needs to be continuoty for the viewer to understand how the show works, who the designer is and give everyone fair air time.
• Drop Elle (she is gorgeous but not a great interviewer or host) and find someone who can carry the show and ask appropriate questions
• Give the mentors more time to advise and share their talent
• Challenge the designers to make similar pieces so that we can see where their strengths and weaknesses lie. 
• If necessary make the first few episodes longer so that you can really get depth out of the contestants and mentors.

I hope that you will tune in tonight and keep an eye out for me in the audience! I am to the left of the stage, smack dab in the middle. Best bet in catching a glimpse is when they are looking at the buyers :)

Let me know what you think of the show, I am interested to see if you loved or hated it. The concept is there but it leaves me longing for more.

What I Wore: Bright Color Block

I am a huge fan of color. I love being able to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Since it is the first week of Spring I think color is more than appropriate and every outfit is based around bright pieces. When I saw that Target was hosting a contest through Instagram based on brights and color blocking I knew that I had to participate. So I am BEGGING all of you with iPhones and Instagram to look me up {FashionistaMMC} and LIKE my photo. The Top Five 'Liked'  photos at 11am Ct time on 3/23 (tomorrow) will go into the finals. PLEASE help me get to the Finals...it would mean SO MUCH. Many of you have already done so and I THANK you from the bottom of my heart!

I love pairing turquoise with so many colors but it truly pops against this tomato red tunic. I am having a love affair with my KS 'Harlow' necklace and I love how it literally makes my outfits. I bought these JS heels last year and I have not worn them much. I knew it was the perfect shoe to complete the look. I paired the bright pieces with my dark denim because I needed some kind of balance. I am proud of this look!

It was really fun to read what you all thought. I will let you know what I decide but I can tell you that my personal fav was NOT one of the more popular ones to you. Haha. I completely spaced on sharing with you that the glasses are ONLY $95. SUPER affordable! I hope that you all check them out if you have the need! I pulled out my perfect fitting pants the other day. These pants have been a go to for the past two years. I have not worn them since I started losing weight. Low and behold they are loose! They don't hug and are baggy and ripple in some areas. I am excited (and a little sad since I have the hardest times with pants). I am holding strong to NOT buying clothes this month, even though I have gone to try on for the fun of it. No clothes until I truly NEED them because the ones I currently own do not fit :)

I generally wear a looser fitting top when I wear really tight pants. I also wanted to wear a scarf while I still can. It has been warm but not hot so I figured I would take advantage. I love cognac paired with olive so my JS shoes were the perfect complement. These shoes continue to do no wrong in my eyes. I LOVE them so much.

Blogger's Do It Better: RED!

Happy Valentine's Day my lovelies!!

To be honest the day kind of snuck up on me. I just realized that I will be spending my first Valentine's Day alone in six years. I am a sappy romantic and I enjoy this Hallmark Holiday :) I decided to pamper myself. I have an intense work out planned, lunch with one of my besties and a massage booked. I think Valentine's Day will treat me just fine :)

(although having a hot date may have been just a smidge better)

I was excited to see that red was the choice for this month's "Bloggers DO it Better" post. While red isn't a color that I own a lot of (three plaid shirts, one sweater and two scarves is all I own. Kind of shocking and a little sad.) I knew that I could make something work. I tried on the few items I own and settled on one of my flannels. It actually has been chilly (in the high fifties) and I knew pairing the shirt with leggings and heeled boots would be perfect. I LOVE the color combination of red and turquoise so I had to dress up my flannel with a statement necklace and earrings. Since my shirt is over sized (from the men's department) I wanted to belt it. My braided skinny belt is going to get a lot more play these days. I love how the look came together.

It has gotten chillier so I am taking full advantage of my warmer weather clothing since I have not had much use for them. I bought these socks over the Summer and finally busted them out. I love how they look with my boots. And to state the obvious I am wearing a hat again. I am really enjoying wearing items that are in the same color family. Nothing I am wearing is an exact match but still looks good together.

It may look like my outfit is confused. I mean who wears a wool hat with sandals? The answer would be me. And as silly as it sounds I actually really liked this look. I bought these shoes back in November after it started getting to be too "cold" to wear sandals and quite honestly I have been dying to wear them. So as it has warmed up here I knew it was time to bust them out. I have been wanting to pair a pair of leopard shoes with a striped sweater for awhile. The hat comes in because I had to throw something on to cover my work out hair. I am telling you I hate doing my hair! The camel color really was a great complement to the lighter colors I was wearing and brought out the camel in my sandals. I have to talk about my BF jeans. I am obsessed (and have been for two years). I think that wearing looser jeans is the best invention ever! I am definitely going to do a dressier look with them soon.

What I Wore: Plaid pursuit

I am having a love affair with Plaid.

Seeing Krystal rock it in so many different ways, paired with a scarf like Alicia or on my gorgeous friend Raymie (pictured below) makes me want to scoop up every one I find. If I had to buy just one it would be thinner (not a flannel) and have Red and Green in it. I am on the hunt!

I had this scarf on my Nordstrom Wish List for a couple of months. I don't know why I waited so long to buy it! I picked it up the week after Christmas (ON SALE) and it is seriously perfect. It is big but not bulky and the colors are gorgeous. In fact the scarf goes perfectly with the shoes my sister got me for Christmas, and that I refuse to take off of my feet. They are amazingly comfortable and my cognac obsession continues to grow. Black and cognac is seriously my favorite color combo right now. It just looks SO good together! I wore this outfit (minus the scarf since it was so dang hot) to meet friends in San Diego for lunch. Sometimes the simplest pieces just make for the best outfits!
