Weekend Wonders

Whew...I am exhausted!

I got in at midnight last night after an incredible weekend in Houston, Texas. My "girls weekend" was actually a SURPRISE visit to my beautiful friend Jill's house to throw her a SURPRISE Baby Shower. Jill is pregnant with twins and is on modified bed rest. Since she is a Cali girl at heart and she cannot fly out to see us we went to her. It was worth every single penny to see the look on her face when we showed up on her doorstep! The shower was so elegant and beautiful. My friend Lauren is an amazing party planner and had such an incredible vision for the shower. We got to spend so much quality time with Jill and her hubby. We ate Texas BBQ and we HAD to have Tex Mex Queso. I needed that time with my girlfriend's and the getaway couldn't have been better timed after my crazy week.

 What is a good girls weekend without some adult beverages? Mimosas at Brunch and my first Coronarita with Queso. Yummmmmm!!!!

 Jill's neighborhood has a mini water park and lazy river in it. Yup! Heaven. We took full advantage.

HAPPY Memorial Day!

I hope that you all are enjoying the long weekend with your families and loved ones. I am so THANKFUL to live in a country that is protected by brave and selfless men and women. THANK you to those that serve, have served and that sacrificed for Americans.

It has been awhile since I posted a mani on the blog. For those of you that don't know, I gave up getting regular mani/pedi's about a year ago after a career change. I do my own and think I have gotten pretty good at it. I change my nail color every 5-6 days and LOVE trying out the latest trends and colors. It is the easiest way to go trend crazy without spending a lot of money and being age appropriate. I feel like Instagram has been the best way to showcase my latest color combo versus posting weekly on the blog. But since Heather of Glitter and Gloss began her Manicure Monday link up a few weeks ago I will participate every now and then. :)

After going neutral on my nails for my Birthday, I was craving something BRIGHT and fun! I posted a few color combo's on Instagram asking for everyone's opinion since I couldn't choose at that moment. Everyone picked the blue/yellow combo. And I didn't follow everyone's suggestion. Haha. When I actually went to paint my nails I wasn't feeling it. Plus I have that yellow on my toes and don't generally like being matchy matchy!

What I Wore: Tangerine

Winter decided to make an appearance over the weekend. It tried to damper our celebration but it didn't.  I always have the hardest time deciding what to wear when it rains becasue I want to be cozy, I want to stay dry and I am not a big layers person. I planned out outfits (and wore them obviously) but didn't really have an opportunity to photograph them. Monday morning the sun was out but it was still on the chillier side. So I made sure to wear my favorite sweater, although it is looking a bit too big these days.

I am a huge fan of orange and I was very excited that Tangerine is Pantone's color of the season. While my top and shoes are a shade or two darker than the "it" color I feel good in it. I picked up the color-block Shoemint "Hattie's" after being on the wait list. I was fortunate to get them because they were sold out again in about ten minutes. I have had this blouse in my closet and it got a lot of wear last year. I love being able to pair my nicer blouses with jeans and flats. Now that my jeans are getting loose I am hating the way they look on me. I think the pants being looser make my legs look bigger. But I am just being picky! cannot wait to buy pants in smaller sizes soon! I kept my jewelry to a minimum. Statement earrings and a large cocktail ring was just enough. I think that even though my sweater was a little large (and over powering?) the color was the perfect compliment to the orange and dark denim. Clearly I am loving neutrals and brights...my manicure is very similar to this outfit and I am LOVING it.

What I Wore: Photo Shoot Outfit #3

I am so excited to share my third outfit and final photo shoot pictures with you. This outfit is probably the most "me" and it is what I felt the most comfortable in. I am a high heel wearing, cozy sweater, skirt and scarf kind of a girl. If it is really cold I will wear jeans :) I loved the neutral colors and that none of the shades were an exact match. I am NOT a matchy matchy girl at all. It has never felt like me. I knew the second that I saw the pin on Pinterest and then put the outfit on that it would be a choice. A LOT of you liked it too!

What I Wore: Photo Shoot Outfit #1

I had so much fun taking pictures with my close friend Leslie of Sweet Child of Mine photography! I feel so lucky that she takes the time to "play photo shoot" with me when her real specialty is maternity, newborn and children's pics. I love her work, I love the locations and I love her. I want THANK YOU all for your comments and for voting on your favorite outfits. I asked you to pick 2 of the 6 and there was no question what you all liked! The first outfit was not one of the winners BUT was an outfit that I liked. The colors and the print of the skirt were what drew me in. Pairing it with neutrals let the skirt shine. An FYI about the skirt...it is actually ankle length. I pulled it up right under my chest because I know that skirts that hit me right below the knee are the most flattering on my body type.

Everybody, Everywear: Colored Pants

It is the second Tuesday of the month and probably the only Tuesday that I actually look forward to ;)

This month's Everybody, Everywear winner is Colored Pants.

I am loving this trend for Fall and will take any good excuse to incorporate color into my life. I have had a really hard time finding the perfect pair of pants that fit me the way that I want. I bought this pair from Old Navy (yes, yet another piece from the place). They fit nicely but they do not have as much stretch as I would like. I probably should have sized up BUT doing that makes me feel bad. Oh vanity sizing, you work on me every time! I have been dying to wear this outfit since I saw Mrs. Khloe Odom wearing a similar look. I feel that the Chambray shirt is such a basic that literally can be worn with anything, dressed up OR down.
