What I Wore: Ruffled Shorts

Hey! Hi! Remember me?!?

I am averaging about one post a month, awesome! Does that still make me a blogger? I can say that life is crazy busy but that is nothing new. I will say that I wear pajamas and work out clothes waaayyyyy more often than I would like to admit. That kind of makes style blogging hard. I have also been working and planning behind the scenes on how/where I want this blog to go and what that actually looks like. So while I may not be super present here, this blog is not far from my thoughts! I think that some great things will happen here. SOON!

You all {should} know that I am a not the girliest dresser ever. I tend to mix my casual and dressier pieces together, a lot. I loved pairing my neon sweatshirt with these ruffled shorts (I love these shorts but paired with the wrong top can totally look like something my 1 year old niece would wear). I added some glitz with the necklace and wore neutral wedges to make my legs look LONG! I love how this look came together. It is perfect for the California nights as Summer turns to Fall.

What I Wore: Wicked!

So I had a pretty epic weekend. 

And I needed it. My brain was mush by the time Friday rolled around. I was in need of girlfriend/sister/family time and I got more of that than I could have asked for. I spent time with one of my favorites, Miss Baby Boy Bakery herself, on Friday. We are just crazy together and we seriously never stop laughing. Like ever. I also spent some time with my Gram, who has Alzheimer's, that day. That was tough but seeing Jacqui made it so much easier. My baby sister came in from AZ and we spent Saturday day at Disneyland. Spending time with her is so refreshing. She knows me, gets me and LOVES me in spite of it all. THEN on Saturday night I FINALLY saw Wicked. My friend invited me to go with her and I felt so blessed. On Sunday I drove up to the Central Coast to spend time with my other sister, the babies and my parents. It was long over due. I packed up to spend the first half of the week up here. Definitely a perk of working from home, I can work anywhere there is an Internet connection. Honestly, driving up the coast and blasting my music really helps soothe my soul. Something about the beach I tell you! 

This is the outfit that I wore to see Wicked. I wanted to be a little dressier because I believe in getting dressed up to go to the Theater. BUT since I would be sitting for hours I wanted to still be comfortable. I opted for a jersey pencil skirt, basic tee and leather jacket. Dressy with an edge. I was SO THANKFUL that I have "The Classics" in my closet. When you pair staples together you will always have a look that is in style. Every woman should have these three items in their closet at all times.

Three days in a row of outfit posts! Yes! I am on a roll!

This outfit was ended up being more fun than I expected. I LOVED pairing the polka dots together. I feel like the scarf totally complimented the sweater since it was opposite in coloring and the dots even had shades of camel in them. I am usually drawn towards darker jeans (more slimming in my opinion) but I thought that a lighter pair made the look a little more Springy. Since everything else was so neutral I liked having a slight pop of color from the burgundy heels. I kept the jewelry simple. My hair was dirty so the bun was my only option. I HAD to wear the sunnies because I wasn't wearing make up. Haha. And I chose to put on some burgundy lipstick to tie in the shoes and "look" like I was more pulled together than I was. ;)

What I Wore: Snow Day

I knew that it was going to be cold in Tahoe. But I still wasn't prepared. I am not a huge fan of the cold BUT I was super excited to layer, wear boots and scarves. We have spent most of our days indoors while it has been snowing. I am not used to so much down time. But I am being forced to relax and that isn't a bad thing.

I planned all of my outfits for the trip to have a "Christmasy" feel. Lots of red, green and neutrals. I bought this sweater after seeing it on the @TargetDoesItAgain Instagram a few weeks ago. I bought it two sizes larger than my normal size so that it would be loose and kind of drapy. These jeans have been a go to pair and I am about to buy them in a size smaller since they are getting loose. :) I LOVE these boots and while I have worn them a few times this is the first time that they are making an appearance on the blog. I LOVE wearing fun socks, especially when they peak out a little bit. I used the scarf to tie the whole look together.

I must confess...

I am loving this Holiday Season so much. It is the first one in years that I am actually getting to enjoy. I keep burning pumpkin candles, using peppermint soaps and air fresheners, and spending hours staring at my tree and lights. I am taking every moment to enjoy the little things. I hope you are too!

This outfit is kind of a mismatch of neutrals. I have been on such a basics kick the past couple of months. I picked up this scarf at the Nordstrom event last week. I love this scarf because it goes with everything. Plus it is the perfect piece to sass up the basics that I cannot stay away from. You cannot see in the pictures but the dots are cream and cognac. So I decided to play that up with this look. Busted out a simple sweater, added my favorite booties and called it a day. I also got the seal of approval from one of my guy co-workers, so I will call it a win!

For real!!!

I have never been a huge fan of button ups. I don't know why but they seemed to be too preppy for me. But since I bought the two plaid shirts and my over sized white button ups from Old Navy I cannot stop wearing (or buying) them. 

Do you wear button ups? Am I way behind on realizing their amazingness??

This outfit is from last week (I am officially out of outfit pics. I need to take some the next few days or my blog will be BORING). I found this blue color (hard to tell in the pics BUT it is NOT chambray OR light blue. It is more cornflower blue) after obsessing over a pic of Ashley Olsen in the same color. I loved pairing this shade of blue with my tomato red Missoni jellies. These shoes are SO comfy. I love designer sales :) One thing that I always try to do when wearing such a masculine piece is wear something really girly. The bows on my shoes weren't enough to bring out the girliness in the outfit. I added a neutral bib necklace that really made the outfit pop. I loved this combo. Pretty, girly and so comfortable!
