WWYW Wednesday: extreme fur

Fur is very in.
Faux or Real.

And I really think I like this ensemble.
But I am not sure that I would wear it.

Would YOU wear this fur stole???

Who wore it better: Reese vs. Jessica

Many magazines and websites like to pair off celebs that wear the same thing to see who looks best. Many times they talk about the way the shoes and accesories make someone a winner. I truly believe that shoes and accesories make a huge difference and can make an outfit. But what drives me crazy is that most times they are comparing people with completely different body types. Clothes look different because of how the fabric drapes and molds to the body.

For W.W.Y.W. Wednesday I am going to show a comparison of Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Simpson and tell you WHY Reese looks better and HOW Jessica could! A little twist to what I normally post for WWYW.

L'Wren Scott Dress

Reese and Jessica are both the same height, 5'3". But they clearly have different body types. Reese is more lean and Jessica is curvier.

WHY Reese is the winner: Wearing a Print dress is harder to pull off for many people. This dress is cut perfectly for a petite woman. The dress hitting just above the knee makes Reese look leggier than she really is. And since Reese doesn't have a large chest the print doesn't pull in that area. The split cap sleeve shows off her toned arms.

HOW Jessica can look better: Two things would help Jessica, a shorter length and a skinny belt or NO belt at all. The longer version makes Jessica look very squat. Her legs look very short and the dress should elongate her frame. If her dress was hemmed 2-3 inches so that the sheath hit just below her knee you would get a better look for her curvy body. Having a large chest and a short torso, clothing can make a person look heavier than she really is. By wearing a wider belt her body and her torso are cut in half which draws attention to the chest. Wearing a very skinny belt would draw attention to the waist which is her smallest area and doesn't cut her in half. I think that she should lose the belt altogether. She also could have gone up a size so that the fabric didn't pull in the chest making the print larger than the rest of the dress. She could have altered the rest of the dress to fit closer to the body if it was too big.

Do you agree with my observations?

Sixty eight: LC Lauren Conrad

***I tried on all of my picks today. See my review below***

If you follow my blog you must know by now that I am drawn to some pretty pricey things. I love designer and I swear my favorite pieces in a collection are always the most expensive. But I cannot afford to indulge the way that I would like. So I am always proud of myself for finding things at a great price. I am a huge fan of the LC Lauren Conrad collection at Kohls. In fact I have 5 pieces in my shopping bag right now.

Lauren's pieces are very true to her.
They resemble many things that you see her wear.
California casual yet chic.

My picks:

This dress is VERY short. I am 5'6 and it was just above my butt. My sister who is two sizes smaller and one inch taller tried it on, it was short but fit her better.
Cute shirt...not as long as I would have liked. I wanted to wear it with leggings but I didn't think I could.

My sister and I both LOVED this skirt but this was so short. We both have a butt (hers is bigger) and we both couldn't walk without giving a show. Sad.
I LOVED this skirt and the fit. Bought it in black and blush. It skims the body but isn't too tight. Not too short either. I could have bought the cream one but I stopped myself :)
I liked this sweater but passed on it. I didn't think that I would wear it enough. But I did buy a cute black cardigan that didn't have a lot of bling!

Cute collection but TRY IT on before buying.
I have had to do this with each season's collection.

Everything is 30% off through March 23 at Kohl's.

My favorite looks to emulate:
Number one outfit

Love the feminine lace with the tough leather jacket.

I love this line, do you?

Forty Seven: STOP! Collaborate and listen. It's Hammer-time!

W.W.Y.W Wednesday?

Whitney Port edition

Harem pants.
Not a look that everyone can pull off, nor want too.
But I kind of like the look.

Whitney takes chances and wears some question worthy pieces. I like the overall look even though I would never attempt to wear it myself.

What do you think?

I DO love the hair and make up though.
Whitney is a total sex pot with this look.
She is normally so plain jane.
Love the curls and the smokey eyes.
I would definitely do the same thing for a night out.

WWYW Wednesday: How low can you go?

I have not done a W.W.Y.W wednesday for awhile.

Watching the Grammy's the other night, I noticed that this is the one event that some celeb decides it is o.k. to wear a dress cut down to the belly button. We all remember J. Lo's Versace dress back in 2001. And Toni Braxton wore a white dress that had a slit to her who-ha and a neckline cut to her belly button. And this year, although tamer than those just listed, actress Kaley Cuoco decided to wear a plunging Nicole Miller. WITHOUT double sided tape? Really!?!

Here is Kaley in her dress.
Ignore her hair...it looked awful.

I don't know if I would wear this dress (Well MAYBE if I had a BANGING body I would)...would you???

Power Suits

I am a working girl. I work for a "big fancy retail store" as a Regional Merchandising Manager for Handbags, Designer Handbags and Small Leather Goods. Love the big fancy title! Along with the glitz and glamour of my job comes the pressure. I am sure that many of you can relate. I work for a fashion retailer. I need to dress professional for my leadership role but trendy as well. It is so hard to look new and fresh. This season really helped with the boyfriend blazer being so popular. That one piece ties so many different looks together. Love. But that isn't enough. Lately I have been drawn to suits...not your typical  eighties suit (although those CAN be pulled off). But a more "relaxed" version. Fun colors, wide legs, loose shells and blouses, shorter pants and on and on. Kate Hudson has been killing this look. And Penelope wore her suit at the Academy Award luncheon last year. This is a look that I am trying to make my own.
The color is incredible with her Blonde hair. And I like the tuxedo stripe with the T strap heel.

Winter white: elegant and classy
Colorful blouse and a wide bell bottom leg. Nice 70's twist
Monochromatic ivory. The cuffs are more fun, less stuffy

What do you think of this look?
Is it attainable for the everyday gal?
Would you wear it?

Red lips

I have grown quite a liking for lipstick.
My mom always has lipstick on and I never do.
Im a gloss gal.
But lately I am drawn to the great colors and how they can complete a look.
Theses are some of my favorites
Makes her eyes look so blue

Old Hollywood glamour
Loving the "twenties" look
A little vampy
Perfect Red. Very Marilyn Monroe
And a natural loooking red.

What is best for me???

Makes my heart pitter patter!

This ad makes my heart stop, the flutter like crazy. If you know anything about Valentino then you will understand. Mr. Valentino built a fashion empire on dressing a woman to make her feel beautiful. He focuses on femininity and in making a woman look like a woman. He incorporates his love of the woman's body with fabric, cut and color. He is a true couturier. I am not sure when this ad is from but it invokes the spirit of Valentino by using such the natural beauty like supermodel, Christy Turlington. The picture has a Sepia feel and makes the model and the handbag the focus. Valentino uses a lot of roses and bows in his designs. this bag is truly a piece of artwork! I love it!

This past season Valention launched the 360 Loop bag. This bag has been highly editorialized and the sequin bag in particular has been quite a topic on the blog sites. We first saw this bag on Gossip Girl which in itself speaks of how High Fashion it is. We have also seen a few celebrities carrying it as well.

Is this a handbag that you could see yourself wearing? Why or why not?

animalistic

Fur is a staple to pretty much every fashion line. And I am obsessed with adding a piece, most likely faux, to my wardrobe. I love how the fur vests totally dress up the outfits. Quite a few of my posts have included Rachel Zoe and I think that she pulls off this look the best! I was tryng to find a picture of her in her fur in Paris for Fashion Week but I couldn't. I have been totally inspired by that look and am lusting over the Laundry by Shelli Segal Faux Mink Coat that made it onto my Nordstrom wish list! I feel like I can justify buying that coat since I travel to Colorado and Utah so frequently. This is a piece that most people don't feel confidant enough to wear. How many of you would wear one of these pieces on a regular basis?

Updated Dorothy

Obsessed.
I try these shoes on once a week at Neimans. They bring out my inner Dorothy. I picture myself wearing these shoes with a dark denim skinny jean or liquid leggings and an oversized tunic. The shoes would make and complete the outfit!

Downfall. They cost $950. Not affordable right now.

BRIGHTside.
I found these pumps by DV Dolce Vita at Nordy's. They come in Pewter and are $80.
I can TOTALLY afford these!

I am super thankful for items that are "inspired by" my designer dreams.
Do you go for the splurge or buy the knock off?

Sequins sensation!

I fell in love with this sequin Gucci jacket worn by Jessica Simpson when I saw this magazine cover. I loved how they made such a stand out piece seem so wearable. This is definitely a look that I would wear, would you???
I was even more enticed when I saw that the jacket was in one of the Gucci ads for Fall 09.
In the ad below you see that they gave the jacket a more professional look.
What do you think of the jacket???
Could this look have a place in your closet?
