What I Wore: Melon

Happy Tuesday!
My weeks have been busy and my weekend's a bit slower which is a weird, yet great, thing to have happen! I am still struggling to have reasons to really get dressed up. This look is from a few week's back but is perfect as it is starting to cool just a bit.

I fell in love with these jeans while working {shortly} at Nordy's this Summer. They are the perfect amount of stretch and I feel like I cannot buy anything else anymore. This is a problem. Haha. Paired with a basic blouse and my black heels this makes my jeans look a tad bit dressier. I am still obsessed with camo and I love the girly touch of the melon stripe. Makes the look all come together.

I am going to make this short and sweet because that is better than no post at all, right??

I have another Kiki La'Rue beauty for you! I have been searching high and low for a leopard maxi for years. I finally found one that fits well, even with a large print, and hides all of my flaws. This dress is super comfy, feels kind of like pajamas, but fancier! I can wear it with flats or heels. Sass it up with some jewelry or keep it super simple.

I cannot stop wearing maxi dresses. An entire outfit, that makes you look pulled together in one piece is just too good to be true!

What I Wore: Summer Uniform #1

I really don't understand how the days pass so quickly! They are flying by. It is a bit crazy but totally fun! My weekend consisted of a concert on Friday night, a 30th birthday for a dear friend on Saturday and then spending time with a friend in from out of town on Sunday. Weekends like this remind me how blessed I am to be surrounded by such incredible people. 

During the Summer I tend to wear a variation of two different "uniforms". The first one is a dress, usually a maxi, with a hat and flat sandals. This dress from Kiki La' Rue is perfect. It fits well, has pockets and comes in a variety of color combos. This combo happens to be my favorite.  Peach and mint are two colors that look great with my coloring AND emphasize an incredible tan (not that I have one yet)! I paired it with a Panama hat, which is one of the best purchases I have made. Bad hair days be gone! I am obsessed with my nude flip flops. They are perfect and go with everything. All three of the pieces are bound to be worn out by the end of the Summer.

My obsession with neon coral is at an all time high. In fact neon/brights anything for that matter! It is getting kind of ridic! I mean I just bought sweats and a scarf that have just a line of the coral color in it. I may be crazy. I also love a good maxi dress. An outfit that looks amazing without even trying? Yes, please! So when I was told that I had to have this dress, I whole heartedly agreed. This dress has it all: style, color, comfort and chicness.

Three days in a row of outfit posts! Yes! I am on a roll!

This outfit was ended up being more fun than I expected. I LOVED pairing the polka dots together. I feel like the scarf totally complimented the sweater since it was opposite in coloring and the dots even had shades of camel in them. I am usually drawn towards darker jeans (more slimming in my opinion) but I thought that a lighter pair made the look a little more Springy. Since everything else was so neutral I liked having a slight pop of color from the burgundy heels. I kept the jewelry simple. My hair was dirty so the bun was my only option. I HAD to wear the sunnies because I wasn't wearing make up. Haha. And I chose to put on some burgundy lipstick to tie in the shoes and "look" like I was more pulled together than I was. ;)

5 Things I Cannot Live With Out {right now}

I think it is bizarre how some weeks I have so much to blog/write about and others I am scratching my head trying to pull something together. This week was not even that busy. My mind is on other things and a certain someone.

I have been reading some blogs and have noticed a lot of 5 Random Things, 5 Favorite Things and other variations. I have done a couple posts about random facts about me in the past so I am putting a little twist on this post and jumping on the bandwagon.

Working Out

While I still don't LOVE working out, it continues to change me physically and mentally. Yoga is doing WONDERS.

She gets it. I feel like this whole album explains how I have felt through the whole process of dating again. The excitement, let downs, the first dates, finding love again. All of it. This album has been on repeat. All day. Every day.

I get how she falls fast and loves hard. I am the same way.

What I Wore: Polka Dot

Oh my...it is August!

When did that happen? I swear that this year is flying by. I have good and bad feelings about that! This month is going to be a GREAT one for me. My sister is due on Friday. Which means I get to meet my niece SOON. Having another little one to love just fills my heart. I cannot get enough of my nephew so I know that I will love my niece just as much. We are having a mini family reunion this weekend and we will be beach camping. I am so excited to spend time with all my loved ones. In three weeks I head to Mexico to attend a wedding of a friend. I also have a couple dates planned. So don't mind me as I gush about how much I love my life on the blog ;)

As for my outfit...we have been seeing polka dots everywhere! I don't know if you know this but I am not a huge J. Crew fan. So when I received the catalog and saw a polka dot sweater on the cover I was kind of bummed. I had already ordered this outfit from Old Navy and had a vision. I feel like now I look like a copy cat. Haha. A lot of bloggers have been wearing polka dots this week as well. I guess I am just late to the trend. I loved that the sweater had larger polka dots and knew that this sweater will be perfect into Fall and Winter. I love the camel color. Pairing it with shorts that have smaller polka dots was a fun way for me to "mix prints" and push myself style wise. I wanted to wear my Zara shoes that match perfectly. The neutral palette was a nice change from my brights. I wore all black and gold jewelry to complement but not compete with the outfit. I love how the look came together.

Happy Monday!
I am exhausted! This weekend was a whirlwind and I spent a lot of time driving. I have to say that I LOVE having Instagram (find me at @FashionistaMMC) to "live blog" my trip. It was fun posting pics and hearing your thoughts and comments along the way. I have had a lot going on in my head so having that time to myself was nice, although it didn't really help me solve anything. On a happier note, my sister's shower was beautiful and gorgeous! I am so so so excited for my niece to arrive. :)

Last week I was perusing Cost Plus World Market (I am kind of obsessed with the store since shopping for my backyard) and I got lost in their accessory section. As I mentioned before I had not shopped at CPWM before I went in for my backyard goodies, so I was BLOWN away by what they had to offer. Anytime I find a place to shop, with INCREDIBLE prices and deals, I feel the need to HAVE to share it with you. From hats, to handbags, scarves, headbands and jewelry galore, all with a worldly edge to it, I can bet that everyone can find something to add to their wardrobe! The only thing I will warn you about is that every store carries something a little different. Make sure to go into different stores for that special find!

 Being tired and having to head into work after an exhausting weekend always means that I will be wearing a hat and whatever happens to be closest to the closet door. Since I picked up a few goodies at CPWM I was able to grab those pieces easily. I picked out this scarf to go with this neon and neutral tank that I picked up last week. I have about 10 pairs of cut offs at the moment and these were strewn over an arm chair so I threw them on. Grabbed my sandals and pretty much ran out the door! I LOVED this fedora because it was neutral AND had black and brown in it. I can wear it with everything. Plus it isn't made out of paper so I don't have to worry about it losing shape if it gets wet when I wear it with my suit in the pool or at the beach. I loved the print and colors in the scarf. It pops with out being in your face. I love wearing scarves and knowing that I can pair a lightweight one with a tank is perfect for Summer.

Currently Lusting After...

I browse the Internet frequently. When you are on the computer as much as I am it is hard not to fall in love with something new every day. I have started pinning my favorite things so that I can either save up to buy the piece or look back at it in a couple of weeks and decide if I still love it. Here are the items that I am currently lusting after...

This is what I have determined from my current list:

1. I am still OBSESSED with aztec/southwestern/ikat prints. Whether it be in a sweater, bahing suit, necklace or shoe, I want it all! I love that each piece is a statement in itself.

2. Stand Out Pieces: I love having ONE piece that pulls the entire look together. I think all three blazers do that AND they all have a different cut. I love that I can dress with a slight edge with the snake print, or All American/Nautical with the striped blazer or Feminine in the pastel, coral blazer. Let's talk about the Peplum Tee... I love the twist on a basic and could see myself wearing it with everything. It is simple yet different. Great piece!

3. My love for Accessories will NEVER D-I-E!! The other day I was called a 'Sunglasses Slut' by my male coworker. And he couldn't be more right! I am always trying to find a new pair. I love the sides on this House of Harlow  pair. We all love a good arm party and adding a Bow Bangle would be a fun and feminine touch. That chain ring is amazing...tough and pretty.
