What I Wore: The Daily Get Up

There are SO many more Pros than Cons to working from home. But one con is that I hardly ever get dressed in normal clothes let alone actually get dressed up. Most days I go from pajamas to work out apparel and then back to pajamas. Sometimes I throw on a tee, a pair of jeans and flats when I have to run errands and not look like I rolled straight out of bed. As you can see from yesterday's post and now today's, this is what I look like most of the time. And it is not that blog worthy. Might I add that make up happens 2-3 times a week. Haha. I have not a drop of make up on my face in these pics or in yesterday's. Keeping it real, y'all!

This is such a simple look. I try to have a little sass when I wear just jeans and a tee. This tee is fun because of the color and color blocking. I also like to wear fun shoes. These are jellies and they bring me back to my childhood. They are actually super comfy and really cute. I tend to wear my glasses when I am on the computer a lot. Plus I have convinced myself that you can't tell I am not wearing make up when I have them on. Lol.

What I Wore: Mix it up

I am sure that I have mentioned it before BUT I am slightly addicted to my phone. Like I sleep with it (because it is my alarm... or so I tell myself). If I am going to be honest with you, than I have to be honest with myself and admit that it is a problem. I am too accessible, too available and I have lost the art of "the chase". After a conversation with a good friend, I realized that I need to unplug. Not necessarily from the computer and internet (since it is my job and I can control my accessibility) but from the phone. So this next week I am going to make some changes. I am going to use my iPod instead of my iPhone during my work outs, I am going to leave my phone in the car when I run into the store, running errands and maybe even while I am working. I won't respond to texts in five seconds, I will be present when I am in the company of people and I am going to change some habits. I will explain a little more in a Flirty Thirty post later this week. :)

I am sharing this for accountability. And a reminder.

I feel like this outfit is a cliche "style blogger" look. Camo anorak. Check. Printed sweatshirt. Check. Hipster glasses. Check. Cognac flat boots. Check. Lol. I have seen looks similar to this. All I have to say is that it is cold and I can finally layer. This is what I ended up throwing on to run errands and cut out the cold. And even though I feel like a cliche I really liked how I looked.

Mix it up
(Sorry for the horrible quality. Dark and Grainy is no bueno)

What I Wore:

Jacket: Old Navy, old (Similar, Super Cute, LOVE this one)
Sweatshirt: Target, not online (Cute option, Would buy this one)

What I Wore: Not for Cold Weather

Monday, Monday.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I kept myself busy watching every NFL playoff game (sad the Packers lost but happy the Patriots won), watching the Golden Globes and even had dinner and went to a crab cookout. It was a great mix of fun and relaxation.

I was going to do a Golden Globes post but stopped myself. Haha. I LOVED Tina and Amy as hosts and wished we saw more of them. I will quickly recap my Best Dressed. I am drawn to really fashion forward looks. I look at details, fit, color and go from there. I am over the simple and safe looks.
1. Naomi Watts in Zac Posen: The color, the detail, the open back and the fit were all perfection. She looked GORGEOUS.
2. Katherine McPhee in Theysken's Theory : Sex appeal in basic black, the cut, the slit and the heels. She was sexy and edgy and I think her body is banging right now!
3. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture: She can do no wrong. This color looked amazing on her, her waist looked so tiny with that amazing metallic belt detail and I know that people didn't like the chest detail but I think it worked. She is just insanely beautiful and fun. I totally LOVED her speech too!
4. Julianne Hough in Monique Lhuillier : Edgy and pretty. I loved the white and gold. She is just a beauty.
5. Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood: Hello Sexy Mama! I loved the red, the sweetheart neckline and her make up! Plus I am obsessed with her man. ;)

Also really loved...

This outfit is from Friday and let me tell you, I ended up REALLY regretting wearing ripped denim. It has been SO COLD (cold for CA) and I am a huge baby! I was freezing all day in this get up inspite of the long sleeve shirt and sweater I was wearing. I love pairing navy with lighter denim and the neutral top and shoes complement the blues. This sweater is from the men's department. I bought it a size too big because I REALLY wanted it, but now that I see it in pics I may have to try and find a smaller size. I added a red lip because I had very little make up on and I wanted to look more put together. Haha. What do you think of this look?

What I Wore: Not the Most Flattering

I will be the first to admit that this outfit is not flattering and does nothing for my body. But it is cozy, comfy and like wearing a blanket. Since I went back to work yesterday, was in a crappy mood, not feeling well and sad that Christmas/Vacation is over I felt this outfit was justified. Ha! I adore the colors in this sweater and I think pairing it with the cognac boots was pure perfection. I also think that my new necklace looks PERFECT with this sweater. I am kind of smitten. See a close up of the necklace HERE. Plus this look is proof to you all that some days I don't give a $hit what I wear or how I look. #TRUTH

Not the Most Flattering

What I Wore:

Sweater: Old Navy, old (Check out this one, this one, or this one to get the look. They are all in similar prints/colors/shapes)
Tee: Mossimo Pocket V Neck (It is my favorite and I buy new colors all of the time)

What I Wore: So Cal Fall

Happy Monday Friends!

I have two exciting things to tell you!

1. I have officially made it one week Gluten Free.
2. It has finally cooled down to the low eighties and it's beginning to feel like Fall!

YES, I consider both of those things very exciting. Haha. Being Gluten Free has been very easy. SO easy in fact I feel like I may have been messing it up. I know that I haven't but I was just expecting it to be so much harder. I think the fact that I have already altered my diet so much that I feel like I am not giving much up anymore. I will keep you updated as the month continues. As for the weather, I am excited that it is cooling down but I am very sad to see Summer end. Summer is my favorite. It honestly depresses me when the sun sets by 5:30pm. Luckily I live in So Cal, so I cannot complain too much about the weather. ;)

Speaking of Fall, it drives me BONKERS that the LA and So Cal fashion bloggers have been wearing layers, jackets and pants making it seem like it has been Fall for about a month now. Yes, I am blowing their cover. It has been 95-100 until last Friday. I couldn't imagine wearing pants or shirts with sleeves let alone LAYERS! I want to bust out my cute fall clothes and boots like the rest of you but it just wasn't appropriate. In fact I have had this scarf for a few weeks, even though it is super thin and light weight, I just couldn't wear it until this weekend. Since I have had it for awhile I have thought of quite a few outfits I wanted to pair it with. I am a huge fan of Black and Cognac together. I wanted an all black outfit to be my blank canvas so that the scarf and my boots were the focal point. I love that this FRAAS Fair Isle infinity scarf is black and white because it can be paired with anything. I am still wearing my tank tops because it isn't that cool. The scarf was the perfect addition and right amount of warmth for what I was doing. I know that it will look good worn with layers in the true Fall and Winter months as well. So this my friends is how I am dressing for the So Cal "Fall" weather we are experiencing right now.

So Cal Fall

What do you think of the FRAAS Fair Isle scarf? It comes in a variety of colors. Check out how my friend, Megan, wore hers. What I Wore: Summer Uniform Revisited

I sat down to write this post and got sucked into Pinterest. Oopsie!
I am always so inspired after perusing that site. Anyways...I digress. It is really starting to warm up and feel like Summer in this part of So Cal. I could NOT be happier. All I need is "the sun and the sand and a drink in my hand" and I am one happy camper. I have some exciting things planned, my backyard is complete so I cannot wait to entertain and I am in a good, happy place. I finally feel like this Summer may be one of my best ever :)

This outfit definitely seems boring after yesterday BUT you will see me in some version of this look 3-4x a week. No joke. You may remember that I wrote about my Summer Uniform HERE and am wearing this exact outfit in different colors HERE. It honestly is so comfy, looks somewhat put together, I can go from the office to dinner and it just works for me. I will definitely modify the look a tiny bit when the weather hits the hundreds by wearing sleeveless blouses. My favorite part of this outfit is that the blouse has a pale pink in it. The pink matched my rose gold glitter sandals and all of my rose gold jewelry. It definitely was the perfect touches to sass up the look a little bit.

Top: Old Navy Camp Shirt in Navy Plaid (it is more purple than navy FYI)

What i Wore: Just a Pop!

It has been chilly in Ca and I FINALLY got to layer. When I say layer I mean a long sleeve shirt and jacket. Haha. I am kind of mad that I didn't add a scarf now that I am writing this. I actually do not layer often for two reasons...I am always hot (hot=sweaty) and I think it makes me look fat. Yup!

I thought of pairing my Hot Pink blazer with my chambray top when they were flung over the arm of the chair in my room. I thought my cognac boots would make a great neutral to compliment the brightness of the blazer. My navy jeans were the only logical pants to wear and I think the outfit turned out pretty well.

Now that I am working at a computer all day, I am trying to wear my glasses A LOT more. So they may make more appearances than usual :)

Just a Pop!

What I Wore: I feel Blue

I always strive to keep it real on the blog.
This is my style journey, my life journey, and when I look back on old posts I think it is awesome to see how I used clothing to express myself. Not every outfit is considered 'blog' worthy but I want you to see the real me. This week has been emotionally tough. I have been dealing with the past, trying to sort through feelings that I chose not to deal with for awhile. I have randomly started crying at songs, I am flooded with memories and insomnia has reared it's ugly head. Yet I am still living my life, working towards goals and "functioning" in a way that no one would realize how much I have been dealing with internally. It is funny how we know how to make everything look like it is great. I have to say that I actually am HAPPY in spite of the emotions. I feel so blessed and know that everything that we go through betters us. I am THANKFUL for the past even when I have to deal with it. It is funny that this week I have been drawn to blue clothing. Crazy how it reflects my mood. The past few days I have worn a large amount of blue, have been drawn to blue items and even wore blue eyeliner. Who am I? Blue is not typically a go to color. Haha.

I received my January Stylemint shirt in the mail and knew I had to wear it immediately. It's Navy. Awesome. I have received quite a few emails asking me about my Stylemint tee's. I have bought AT LEAST one shirt a month since the launch (with the exception of December since I didn't LOVE any of them). The shirts are very true to size, SUPER soft and go with everything in my wardrobe. They look great after being washed, keep their shape and there are so many styles to choose from. I highly recommend the line. ANYWHO...I don't typically like Navy and dark denim together, I tend to wear navy with a lighter denim, but I wanted to wear these jeans since they fit me perfectly right now :) My hair was not presentable so throwing on a beanie was just the touch I needed to lighten up the all blue ensemble. I find it very amusing that I was wearing flip flops with a beanie. You see it is not cold where I live. It was 75 degrees today. When I went out it was around 67. The beanie was for looks, not warmth. Only in CA will you see people wearing beanies and flip flops together. I'm not wearing make up either. I am happy my glasses hide that. Looking at the pics I maaayyyyy need to buy a smaller size in the shirts next time around. It is a little big, COMFY, but big. YAY! Overall I felt like an emo, CA Hipster in this ensemble. Ay yi yi!

What I Wore: Braving the Cold

Sunday night I took myself on a date.
I am making myself go out and experience the Holiday goodness even when I cannot find someone to go with me. One weekend a year there are 12 churches that each create scenes of Jesus' birth story. I wanted to make sure I saw it this year. So I bundled up, it has been in the brisk fifties at night here in So Cal, and headed to the nearest Starbucks to grab a warm beverage.
I wore ANOTHER sweater from the boys department at Target. I have been obsessed since buying this one. They fit great and are under fifteen bucks. Perfect for a lady on a budget. I busted out an old hat, wrapped up in my fav scarf and threw on some boots. Looking at these pics I realized NOTHING matched. Hahaha. Love when that happens ;) At least I was warm.

What I Wore: Holiday Weekend

Happy Monday lovelies!
I am spending the day at work...and you know what???
I am not sad at all because I LOVE what I am doing right now.
It feels so awesome to say that. It also helps that I have had the past five days off as well. Haha. But really, I love my job.
We were supposed to go away for the weekend but that didn't end up happening and I was MORE than bummed about that. I actually had a pity party for myself on Friday night. I have a love/hate relationship being alone. I love it when I WANT to be alone (which is actually quite often, I am extremely independent) but I hate it when I want to be with friends and I am not invited to do anything. Boo. Apparently I am having a small Pity Party again. Lol. Anyways I got to spend some time with the BF just watching movies and eating. That was needed and loooonnnnggggg overdue (he travels all week for work and I have had plans on the weekend so we haven't seen each other more than one night a week for the last month, if that!) So gone or not the weekend was a success. Although a weekend away at a nice hotel is needed. Next month :)

Holiday Weekend

P.S. I cannot believe I own Toms. I don't think that they are that cute. I did it for the kids. AND because they are so comfy. Plus they sparkle. I love Glitter. Yup.
P.P.S. My hair is FINALLY fading and getting redder. It is still to dark for what I want but I know that can be fixed!

What I Wore: Look for Less

Remember this pic from the Birthday post???
 {image via peoplestylewatch.com}

I have been on the look out for MONTHS to find a yellow/taupe striped top. And I FINALLY found the perfect one. For ELEVEN dollars (with a 30% off code) at Old Navy! I was able to emulate this look for CHEAP. Many of you told me that you really like my casual outfits so I am excited to show off this one! YES, I am wearing stripes, big stripes. I don't feel a huge cow either! WIN!

Yesterday I unpacked ALL of my Handbags and Clutches and created an Accessory closet in my spare bedroom. I now have access to my 30+ bags. I cannot wait to change it up more often. I love this Junior Drake bag that I bought at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in 2007. It is the perfect color, holds SO much and has a crossbody strap. I couldn't ask for more in a bag.
Look for Less
