Changes are Coming...

Source: iwastesomuchtime.com via Mandy on Pinterest

I have been pretty transparent in 2012. Well, as transparent as I have felt comfortable with; hoping not to share TOO much of myself on the blog and the internet. Being vulnerable and sharing my heart is not always easy nor comfortable. But the last six months as I have shared with you my fitness and weight loss goals, talked about finding myself again after ending my relationship (Here, Here, Here, Here, ), my thoughts and excitement about turning 30 and documenting my style, I have gotten quite the steady following. With that following I have gotten more comments, I have connected with many of you over emails/Twitter and I have gotten LOTS of questions.

I have been thinking, A LOT! Now that I am in a new phase in my life I think I am going to start a weekly post that touches on life as a single woman in her thirties. I have been asked if I would consider blogging about dating; which would include the dates I go on, what to wear, communication, pretty much the good, bad and the ugly. There have been questions about how I {re}built my self esteem, how I handle friendships/relationships (like my ex), what I plan to do with my 'career',  and how I "really" found my happiness. Clearly that is a LOT of info and I think it is time to address some of it. I am ready to share my heart a little more frequently along with my personal style.

BUT (yes there is a but) I am extremely nervous to be so vulnerable. I don't plan on holding back and I don't want to be insensitive. I would never want someone to Google my name and see that I talk about all of my dates/relationships/experiences. I don't want people to be afraid to date me or share with me in fear that I will talk about them. I want this to be about ME, what I have learned so that I can HELP YOU!

Sooooooooo.......

- Does this interest you?
- Will you comment or email me questions or situations along the way so that I am keeping the info fresh and tailored to you as the reader?
- Do you think that this is a good idea?
- Can you help me come up with a name for this series???
{Flirty Thirty, Thoughts of a Thirty something, a play on Sex And The City?}

I cannot do this without your interaction.
So PLEASE let me know what you think!!

I mean, how could you not want to read the thoughts and advice from THIS face? ;)

  1. I think it's such a wonderful idea! One of the things I love most about blogging is what other bloggers share with me. I was just looking at a bloggers photos from a memorable event that just occurred - I got all teary witnessing her happiness even from behind my computer screen. We all have the ability to share that moment of happiness or knowledge with someone. I say go for it :)

    1. You are too cute! You definitely have the blogger bug. I always feel emotional and connected to other blogger's too! I think I can write this series and keep it within the vision of my blog, share more about me and keep things anonymous at the same time. THANKS for your input!

  2. I think this is a really fun idea. I don't know if I would talk about all the dates because you never know that might turn out to be someone you end up with and that could be awkward. However, I'd love to see what you wear on the dates and where you go etc. I like the title Flirty Thirty it has a nice ring to it.

    1. Totally agree. I will not talk specifics or about people I am dating. But I will share past dates and what I learned and how I learned them. Clothes will always be tied in...I love them too much! I like Flirty Thirty but am not 100% sold. I Appreciate your thoughts!

  3. It sounds like a great idea, as long as you are willing to share all of those things! I think the most important thing is that you're comfortable. I personally am nervous to share a lot of super personal information on my blog, but each person is different. As long as you're okay with it, I say it's a good idea!

    1. I COMPLETELY understand your apprehension and have struggled a lot with drawing the line. I am a very open person and think I have learned a balance in how/what/when to share. I think that by opening myself up I may reach and help more people. And that is what my heart is all about. Thanks for speaking up!

  4. I think it is a great Idea. I am 29 and single and so are a lot of my girlfriends and honestly its quite baffling because we are all good looking girls, with careers and have it together. I usually lurk on fashion bloggers sites never posting, so I am getting out of my comfort zone and writing to you today and saying do it! I agree with "Fashion by Alicia" I would not write about all the dates, maybe here and there. Date Fashion Yes, Where you go Yes, Dating in its self, the approach etc., online vs. set ups vs. meeting someone out randomly.

    1. YOU, my friend, are exactly the type of girl I want to reach AND connect with. I think there is such a BAD stereotype of being single and successful and a certain age. You gave great suggestions and they all line up with the notes I wrote before writing THIS post. I want to write about the experiences NOT the actual dates. AND all the ways to meet and connect will be a huge focus.I SO appreciate you commenting and speaking up. THANK you!

    2. Your welcome, and boy do I have stories, in the mist of a majority of married and coupled up friends. I also went through a very heart breaking exprience with a guy this past year. I was inspired by you an signed up for match today, and put myself out there. It's been hard trying to find an eligible bachelor and needed to try a different outlet. Because I've been being complacent Dating whatever was around and lowering standards. Lol see now you got me putting it all out there.

    1. I am the same way as you in real life! And I am pretty blunt on Twitter. I def have held back more on the blog since I try to keep it all fashion/style related. But I think I can wirte this without losing that aspect. Thanks for supporting and being on board!

  8. Mandy I only recently found your blog and am interested now in back reading it- because I posted to you last week that your legs look great but your inner beauty and sweetness always shine through this blog and I had no idea it has taken you so much to get to this place- Kudos there are most certainly big pay offs for hard work and perseverance both physically emotionally and spiritually. I myself met my husband 5 days before turning 19- we started dating 3 months later and have been together ever since we just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and Christmas eve coming up will be 29 years since we met.... sooo having said that YES do this so I can peek in on all that I missed out on LOL. Please Please let me live vicariously through you and your followers LOL
    Best of luck sweetie

    1. You have left me the sweetest comments and I hope you got my email last week when you last commented. It meant a lot to me! It has been quite the ride. Read the links I put on this post if you want more of a back story. I didn't talk much about the journey as it was very real and raw for the first six months :)

PLEASE live vicariously through me! I hope you find the journey as enjoyable and crazy as I do!

  9. I say do it! You can always make situations anonymous to protect the innocent ;) as far as dating goes. And just as you have grown over time and change has happened for you it makes total sense to grow the blog! I may be in a totally different spot in my life since I have a boyfriend and a 20 month old- so I would totally love to live vicariously through the fabulous life you have created for yourself :) I can however relate as well- I ended a four year relationship shortly before getting pregnant with my son so I also know how long that healing process can be. I think that sharing your adventures and potential misadventures would be very therapeutic and I for one, as it seems like everyone that has commented previously would love to share the journey with you. But please- keep the fashion coming- as you know I am obsessed with your style :)

  11. i think this is an awesome idea!! and if people are asking for it, do it! esp if you're willing!! i understand about dates and not wanting people to think you're going to be blogging about them. maybe write the post right after the date, but not post it soon after? i also like the name of flirty thirty!
