What I Wore: Black and White

Summer's fun and the livings easy!
Especially when it comes to dressing.

I have a big weekend ahead of me. One of my bestest is getting married!
I am so excited for her and I just know that the wedding is going to be beautiful. Hopefully I will be getting a couple outfit shoots in!

This look makes a statement with just two pieces. If it isn't a maxi dress than I am pulling on a maxi skirt (or my cutoffs but I am sure you are sick of seeing those if you follow me on Instagram). I love how flattering this skirt is. The chevron gives me shape and pairing it with a drapey tank means that I have room to breathe! I threw on flat studded sandals and a basic pendant.

What I Wore: Snakey

Well, well, well.
This look was quite popular with y'all on Instagram.
Which made me SO happy because I am kind of obsessed with it. It is seriously so cute but comfy. I love that!

I think that kimonos can be harder to wear. You have to be careful of the length, where it hits on your body and that it is not too oversized. I am wearing a small/medium and I have never worn that size. I am a HUGE lover of animal print, especially in neutral colors. This piece was a no brainer. I think I have at least 6 pairs of cut offs at this point. I wear them almost daily. I wore  flip flops with the look to run errands and threw on the wedges for dinner. Super versatile!

What I Wore:

Kimono: Kirious from BP at Nordy's (not online yet but here is a great selection)
Tank: BP cami
Shorts: Old Navy, Old (similar)
Necklace: Stella and Dot
Earrings: Kendra Scott 'Karina'

My Nordstrom Anniversary Picks #NSale

Wow...
My stint at Nordstrom went by so fast. If you have been reading my blog for awhile you will know that I worked for Nordstrom for 8 years. I had a very significant and fulfilling career there. I held various positions, followed my heart and made my dreams a reality. As I grew up, learned who I was and where I wanted my life to go; I decided that it was time to leave to pursue different dreams about two years ago. I look back on my time at Nordstrom with so much love. I made incredible connections, lasting relationships and know that I have a "home" there. So going back to help my mentor out for five weeks was an opportunity that I could not pass up. I did a job that was brand new, I didn't know what to expect and I learned SO much. It was fun but I am ready to settle back into my normal, regular life.

Since I was the guru and manager of all things Anniversary Early Access (this is a special offering to Nordstrom Card Holders to shop the Anniversary sale before the sale is open to the public) I thought that I would share my picks from the sale. I have truly honed in on my style, what looks good on me. I tend to favor basic pieces that I can sass up. If you like my style or gravitate to similar pieces that I wear, you will like this list!

I am a huge fan of this blouse. It is so easy to dress up or down. It looks amazing with everything!

I would wear plaid 24/7 if I wouldn't look like I was always wearing the same thing. Haha. This dress is a fun and different way to wear plaid. Paired with boties it is the perfect fall look.

Wildfox is one of my favorite "trend" brands. I love their outlandish and cheeky prints and sayings. This is a great top to throw on with distressed skinny denim.

I am NOT super girly and I don't LOVE bows BUT I am in love with this sweater. This color combo is perfect without being too girly. I would wear this with oversized BF jeans and a chunky, neutral platform shoe.

This sweater stood out to me because I loved the small speckles of color that is interspersed throughout the sweater (hard to see in the pic). Plus I loved the added glam of the jeweled collar.
Hinge Jewel Embellished Sweater

YOU GUYS... You ALL know that this is my most favorite work out piece that I own (in three colors). When I saw that it went on sale I may or may jot have bought all four! OOPSIE! Buy it! You will not be disappointed. It is work out attire perfection.

I know that I recently converted to Lululemon pants but I have been a Zella fan for years. Plus they are on sale for a GREAT price. I wear these to yoga and in my every day attire. They are thick and stay up! PLUS I just bought a MEDIUM. What What!! My previous pair(s) was a XL. I am so stoked!
Zella 'Live In' Leggings

I am still in SUPER love with the pointed toe stiletto. This is a fun and sassy update for any girl! I love the straps and studs. Classy, rocker chic!
Sam Edelman 'Darla' Pump

Everyone needs a nude peep toe pump in their closet. It literally goes with everything. This pair is gorgeous and at such a great price!
This bangle is a bit on the pricier side so it is great to pick it up when it is on sale. I own it in a few colors and it is always the perfect piece to add to any arm party.

While I did not personally buy everything on this list (I do have SOME self control) I do have very similar pieces in my closet that I go to and wear all of the time. I didn't include denim because I am still exploring what designer brands look best on me. I did pick up a pair of J Brands that were on clearance that I love. I also bought a RAD sweater that sold out so I couldn't share it with you. AND I bought some white leopard Nike Free 5.0's that also sold out (super similar to this pair I pinned months ago). I will be instagramming what I bought through out the week so make sure that you follow along (@FashionistaMMC)

What I Wore: Lovely Lavender

If there is one thing I have learned about Style Blogging, it is how to make the basics work for you. Obviously they are called basics for a reason BUT I always try to find something a little different to make the look a little more "me".  Right now I am loving distressed/destroyed/shredded cut offs. I think they funk up the outfit. I like wearing a more girly top in a pretty color or fun fabrication to offset the grungier look of the shorts. This lavender blouse is a perfect example of that. Since both pieces were pretty simple I thought that the leopard sandals were the perfect complement to the outfit. They stand out with out being over the top.

I also want to point out that having an 'Apple Shape' is hard to dress sometimes. In blousier pieces I tend to look heavier. You can see a huge difference when I put my hands on my hips, defining my waist. Since I have a larger bust and broad ribcage I have to buy tops in a larger size creating excess in the body of the garment. SO annoying. I need to find an amazing tailor! The power of alterations is HUGE!

 Looking somewhat lean...

Definitely look heavier in my mid section...

Oh HEY... I have a waist! And it looks kind of small.

 Waist? What Waist?

 What I Wore:

Shorts: Forever 21 (similar)
Belt: BP, super old
Earrings: Kendra Scott 'Wren', old (very similar)

What I Wore: Blushing

I. Can't. Stop. Buying. Maxi Dresses.
#truestory

This dress is my latest buy from Kiki La'Rue and to say that I am obsessed would be an understatement. I LOVE the color combo. Blush and Taupe are faves of mine and they just so happen to be great colors on me. I paired the dress with my denim vest to give the look a little something extra. To play up the blush color I wore my rose gold bangles, hoops and watch AND wore my most favorite sandal in Rose Gold Glitter. While the dress is super comfy I think the look made me look chic and pulled together.

What do you think of this look?

What I Wore and a WINNER!!!

Hey friends!

I hate coming here and apologizing for being MIA and telling you how busy I am but that is all I have to say! I am trying to balance my work load, fitness and personal life and it is H-A-R-D. I promise I will make more of an effort to post more consistently!

I also picked a winner for the Kiki La'Rue Giveaway.
Drum roll.....dun, dun, dun, dun

a HUGE Congrats to:

I will be emailing you over the weekend!

This outfit was inspired by a picture of Sophia Bush that I pinned on Pinterest. I LOVE these Gap pants but have felt limited in what I could wear them with due to the blue of the pants, they are so dark and don't look like denim. I am weird about pairing colors with certain blues. After seeing Sophia pair her polka dot pants with a gray sweatshirt and heels I knew I could pull off that look. Since it is warm I found a lightweight sweatshirt with short sleeves and had my outfit. I paired it with my Zara heels and complementary jewelry pieces. Love how it came together. Don't mind my cray cray hair... this is how it ends up every day now that I am working in the store. Lol. I am taking messy bun to a new level ;)
