What I Wore: Holy Stripes!

We all have comfort zones when it comes to getting dressed. I am no exception. You all might laugh when you realize that I consider today's look to be COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone. I will try A LOT of things but stripes scare the living daylights out of me. Yup, STRIPES! When you battle your weight and always feel larger than everyone else you tend to shy away from pieces that will make you look bigger. And stripes and I have never been friends. I have LONGED to wear stripes, in particular a striped dress. So I decided to try it. I cannot say that I am a convert. But I felt a little more comfortable now that I have lost some weight. I think I will always feel like a "big girl" in them but I am not so afraid anymore.

Today's look is sponsored by Beachmint.
I am wearing the Stylemint 'Broadway' dress, majority of my jewelry by Jewelmint and the Shoemint 'Bridget' sandals. I like the little pop of leopard from the shoe mixed with the stripes. Especially since the stripes are red. Red and Leopard print are total BFF's. I feel like the dress works because it is not super form fitting. A little trick I learned was to wear a necklace that hits at the smallest part of your body so I tried that with my fringe necklace. I would like to try a belt with it the next time I wear it.

What do you think? Honestly.

Holy Stripes!

 What I Wore:

Rings: Kendra Scott 'Shelby' in black and pyrite. Jewelmint 'Ludlow Trio' and 'Sweetheart' (both older and no longer available)
Necklace: Kendra Scott 'Rayne' in pyrite
Bracelet: Jewelmint 'Birdcage' (no longer available)

  4. I think you look great!!! (honestly!) Definitely not 'big'. We are always our harshest critics though (I know I am). For me, I always feel more comfortable when then stripes are smaller and this dress is perfect. A belt would be super cute with this look, too. LOVE the sandals (of course!)!

  11. you look FABULOUS!!! I have always heard that stripes line but honestly, I ignore it. I have a huge butt but I have always decided I just don't care. Either way, your nautical stripes are beyond cute. I love this!
